*Anterograde amnesia is a condition in which a person is unable to create new memories after an amnesia-inducing event.

"Hello, Jennie," Jimin smiled at the brunette sitting in the hospital bed. She stared back at him, creases in her forehead and her mouth in a small pout. Confusion swimming in her eyes.

"Hello."

"I'm Jimin."

"Hi, Jimin."

She was clearly hesitant, and he couldn't blame her. She didn't know who he was.

"How do you know who I am?"

He dodged her question, "Do you remember how you ended up here?"

"I was told by the nurse just before you came that I had gotten into an accident when I was on the way to meet someone."

He nodded, glancing at her bandaged leg, which was bandaged leg, and the gauze wrapped around her head. It had been two weeks since she had been here, but she showed no signs of overcoming her anterograde amnesia*.

He didn't think he would ever see her remember him before he left the earth.

"I was the someone you were going to meet."

"Oh," she raised her eyebrow, her cat eyes staring unblinkingly at him, "Were we friends?"

He gave a sad smile, "A little more than that."

"Oh," she whispered, leaning back against her pillows, "In a romantic way?"

Her question hung in the air, and he swallowed. It always hurt to see her forget him.

"Yes."

She exhaled lowly, closing her eyes. Even a deaf person could've detected the pain in his voice, and he knew that. How was he ever supposed to get over this, though? He didn't want to leave the world with his lover not even remembering him.

Life was bitter.

"Can you help me remember?"

Jimin's head swivelled to meet her gaze - her earnest gaze. It was the first time she had asked him that. Not that she would know, and not that she would remember whatever he told her, but it felt nice to know that she wanted to know.

So he told her.

He told her about everything they had. How they talked about everything and nothing. The first time she held him when he cried, the first time they kissed in a garden surrounded by flowers. How ethereal she looked in a gown amidst the meadow of daffodils.

He told her of the times they used to watch movies. How every movie night ended up in both of them either doubling over in laughter or crying till their eyes were sore. How she could make him laugh until he cried, and how beautiful her smile was.

He told her of the times she took care of him when he was sick. The fact she would pat his back and brush his hair back when he threw up, unflinching. Caressing his cheeks and singing him lullabies until he fell into a deep sleep.

The love between them - he painted it out for her. To help her relive them in a way, vicariously, through him.

Jimin didn't tell her about the ending, though, of their love story. That was too painful. He had known they were going to end for the past two months. But like this? No he hadn't thought that. He had thought she would be by his side, holding his hand until his last breath.

But that's not what happened.

It was quite devastating, really. Their love story. One had cancer and the other got in an accident on the way to visit him. Tragic, to be honest. The former was two feet away from the death door and the latter didn't even remember him.
