"He actually waited. Stupid," Jennie muttered under her breath, stalking towards the young man who was laying against the wooden fence, eyes closed. And shoved his shoulder hard, "Yah!"
He grumbled, eyes blinking until he finally registered who was standing in front him. He blinked again before his eyebrows furrowed into a scowl.
"You're 4 hours late."
She flicked his forehead, "Shut up and be glad I came. You didn't even ask me, you ordered."
Jungkook got up after that, just muttering under his breath. She paid him no need, mind replaying what happened yesterday, during lunch. He had just come up to her when she was eating, and said, "PLQ Tower. 4 pm, tomorrow. One minute late and I'll boil your teeth."
She had just glared at him. Who did he think he was, ordering her about like that? Show up? Never.
He had turned to walk, but then hesitated, turned back, and said, "Please," and that's what made her reconsider.
They had always had a love hate relationship. It started off dumb, really. He wanted to pull a prank on his friend, but she had walked in instead. But he didn't apologize, and had laughed instead. That made her blood boil and got her fired up to get back at him, and that's what started the war. She had hated his cockiness and guts. Until as of late, when he showed that he was trying to no longer be a rich snob.
Jennie sighed, broken out of her reverie when he nudged her shoulder, "Come."
She scowled, sticking her tongue out at his back but followed him nonetheless. She hadn't meant to be 4 hours late. She was returning home with her mother from visiting another town and they had gotten stuck due to a snow landslide that covered the tracks and blocked the train's path. She hadn't expected him to wait 4 hours in the cold, snowy weather either, so she had sensibly decided to go home.
And then saw him next to the fence, and had a double take.
Of course, he would be stupid enough to wait for her! What if she hadn't even come?!
Jennie wrapped her scarf around her tighter, lifting it up to cover her nose. She trudged behind him in the snow, ignoring his occasional glances to see if she was okay. Couldn't he at least give her context as to what they were doing?
Stupid.
The pair entered the tower, and Jungkook waited for her at the entrance. Gripping her arm, he dragged her to a lift.
"Yah!"
"Just follow me."
She grumbled, but didn't protest. They were already in the lift anyway. When they reached the top, she saw it was an open hut. With benches around a little café in the middle. Which was closed.
"We were supposed to eat here," Jungkook motioned towards the café, "I wanted to let you taste the hot chocolate and marshmallows. And the crème brulé and all the other pastries. Whatever you've not had before. But somebody decided to be late."
Jennie's heart melted, not expecting him to say that - as in, the former parts. Her mind blanked for a moment, and thus, for the first time with him, she kept aside the sharp retorts.
"I'm sorry. My mom and I got stuck in the train. The snow blocked the tracks."
He didn't say anything, just shoving his hands into his pockets deeper. Jennie noticed how red his nose looked in the cold, as well as the tip of his ears. The guilt for making him wait worsened. Logically, she knew it wasn't her fault- but he didn't deserve that either.
"You should see the view," he murmured, his hands reaching out to grip her shoulders gently and steer her to the balcony. Her heartbeat quickened, and she cursed herself. Since when she had felt like that near him?
