JENMIN, back stage, pt i.

"Hyung-ah," Jimin nudged Namjoon, who looked at him questioningly.

"I forgot my phone backstage."

The older rolled his eyes, "Go get it, but hurry, or else you'll miss Blackpink’s performance. And you wouldn't want to miss Je— Yah!"

He hissed in annoyance when Jimin elbowed him harshly, then smiled sweetly.

Namjoon refrained from yelling after him, solely because they were in public, and just tsk-ed at his back as he walked away. He checked his watch, Blackpink should be starting in a minute or two so the shortie had better hurry if he wanted to see the performance.

Jimin quickly climbed the stairs to the back of the stage, not surprised to see stylists and makeup artists rushing about. He made his way to the area artists wait just before entering the stage, recalling how conveniently he had left his phone there.

Just as he turned the corner to enter the tiny room - if you called it one - he saw a familiar brunette standing rigidly in the centre, facing the stairs to the stage. On a few extra seconds of staring, he realised how tightly she was clasping her hands together and how nervous she seemed.

"Jennie-ssi?"

Her name involuntarily spilled out of his mouth, and she immediately swivelled around to see the one and only Park Jimin of BTS.

Time really seemed to have froze as they both took the other in, inhaling sharply.

She’s even prettier up close...

"J-Jimin-ssi?" she gaped, visibly flustered, "What are you doing here?"

He chuckled awkwardly, heart pouding violently against his ribs, "Just left my phone here."

"O-oh," she realised, and moved out of the way, "Sorry."

"You have nothing to be sorry for," he assured her, reaching past her to take his phone and pocketed it, "Where are the rest of your members?"

"Touching up their makeup," she answered absentmindedly, looking out onto the stage, "I'm performing my solo first, so they'll be here soon."

"Oh," he nodded, hoping his face didn't give off how excited he actually was.

"But," she continued, meeting his eyes.

"There's technical issues right now, and it's just making me a lot more anxious. I am scared to perform solo... in front of so many... people..." she admitted softly, voice becoming quieter.

She didn't know why she even told him so, barely knowing him aside from through social media. He probably thought of her unprofessional now, but she was too nervous to think through what she said.

Contrary to her thoughts, Jimin's heart reached out to her and feeling bold, he took a step forward.

"You probably think I'm so unpro—"

"Hey," he cut her off gently, "It's okay to feel anxious. Or nervous. It's natural. Just do your best, okay?"

She gazed at him with parted lips, eyes clouded over with an emotion didn't manage to identify.

"My hyung always told me the stage is your reward for all the hard work you've put in. It's not a punishment. And you take a reward freely, you don't follow anyone. It's your moment."

He smiled encouragingly, and when Jennie saw that signature eye smile, her cheeks warmed up slightly.

He's even cuter up close...

She looked away, slightly embarassed to be caught staring so openly at him - by him himself, "Thank you."

She suddenly felt his warmth right in front of her, and she almost combusted at the proximity.

She looked up in time to see him gently adjust the frills of her outfit. She pursed her lips tightly, not trusting herself to open her mouth and to say a coherent sentence when she knew all that would come out would be a high-pitched squeal.

Who knew, she would meet the idol she admired greatly moments before her performance?

It was all the motivation she needed.

"Give your best, okay? I'll be watching."

He encouraged her, and immediately left as the emcee announced her name, leaving her a flushed mess.

Jennie pressed her fingers to her temples - he had left so quickly! She didn't even get to thank him!

She shook all those though from her head h Whatever, he was watching her, she definitely had to give it her all.

With that thought in mind, she stepped onto the stage, and let the blinding spotlight envelope her.
