Chapter 3. So I kinda left you guys at a cliffhanger… I guess. I don’t know, I’m not really good with cliff hangers anyway. But here’s Chapter 3, enjoy yourselves!

~Previously~

I peered around the trash can to see one man on the ground, and the other pointing a gun towards his head. Then he pulled the trigger. It was involuntary, but I screamed, causing the gunman’s attention to turn to me. He started after me, and I ran. I ran track in high school, top of the runners, that was my advantage, my only advantage. My mind told me to run, and keep running till you get to the police station; don’t stop. And then I heard another shot, then I felt a searing pain at my side. I’d been hit, and it hurt like hell, but I let my legs carry me to where I needed to go.

~Presently~

I was breathless by the time I busted through the doors of the police station. My side burned like fire, my hands wouldn’t stop shaking, and I must’ve looked like a complete mess. But I couldn’t stop; I needed to find anyone who could help me. And then I saw Dylan, with adrenaline pumping throughout my body I ran to him, clutching at his shirt, digging my head into his chest.

“Evan you okay?” he said alarmed and kept me steady. He was unaware of my bleeding wound.

“H-he was ch-chasing me. He-he shot someone Dylan, I saw it and now everyone’s in d-danger” I stuttered as I cried. That one thought ran throughout my head, everyone I loved was going to be in danger if the gunman was still out there.

“You saw a murder?” he asked quietly, I shook my head. He stood there thinking, and then said “We have to put you into WP if that’s the case Angie” he finished regrettably. Then he saw blood cascading down my side “Angie did you get hit?”

“I ran here from Dublin’s Bar, I-I couldn’t stop” I had become dizzy now, and was struggling to keep myself up.

“Evangeline we need to get you to the hospital” Dylan said quickly. The last of his words became a distant echo as blackness pulled at my eyes. And then just as fast as I had run to the station, I collapsed to the floor, and everything went black.

I was heading over to Dublin’s to harass Evangeline like I did every once in a while. She was a bus girl since she wasn’t old enough to be a bartender, and I loved poking fun at her. I’d stay there until her shift was over and then we’d leave. That was the plan, until I saw flashing lights and yellow caution tape. My heart leapt into my throat as I saw forensics rolled a body bag over to an ambulance. People were gathered outside gossiping and trying not to freak. But what made me worry was that Evangeline was nowhere to be found. No, no! I yelled to myself she’s okay.

I jumped out of my car, slamming the door. My eyes scanned the crowd again looking for her face. And again, nothing. I just texted her about 20 minutes ago, she can’t be, no! I yelled again. Stop it Ash, she’s fine.

“Ash!” I heard Percy yell.

“Percy! Where’s Evangeline?” I called back frantically.

“I-I don’t know. We heard gunshots and the next thing we know the cops came” he answered breathless, still in a state of shock.

Oh god, oh god no! She can’t be gone no! Evangeline wouldn’t have been stupid enough to be killed. I knew her just as well as her band mates; I knew she would have run. My phone buzzed in my pocket, all I wanted to do was take it out and see her contact I.D. on the screen. I pulled out my phone to find it was an unknown number.

“Hello?” I said hurriedly

“Is this Ashley Purdy?” A female voice sang through the phone.
