I woke up from a horrible nights sleep. It was harder to dream while he was gone, my thoughts were always on him... Well some of the times. Other times I needed to worry about people that were a little more important. I could worry about sleep later.

I rubbed my eyes, trying to motivate myself to sit up in bed. Ashley's shirt clung to my body as I attempted to prop myself up on my elbows. I always made him leave a shirt home, he had this comforting smell that helped me sleep a little better than the usual terrible sleepless nights. I gave up, letting out a sigh and plopping back down on my pillow. Just as my eyes closed the monsters decided to throw the door open.

"Mommy! Mommy!" Jocelyn shrieked as she ran into the room, Jesse trailing not to far behind her. She jumped into the bed, crawling into my arms as Jesse leaned on the bed post, trying to catch his breath.

"What's going on you two?" I chuckled, running my fingers through my daughter's soft black hair.

"Joyce came into my room and took my band tee-shirt!" Jesse yelled, pointing his finger accusingly at his little sister.

"What one?" I asked, amused on how much they teased each other. It was the simple things that ticked them off when it came to pushing each other around.

"The one dad got for me when we went to that Metallica concert." He huffed, crossing his arms over his chest, averting his face. His head looked towards the ground, his long black hair covering his crystal blue eyes.

"He doesn't wear it!" She shrieked in defence, her chocolate brown eyes widening as her mouth dropped open into an 'O'.

"It's been signed! I'm not gonna wear it a lot of it was signed!" He fumed, his face flushing into a light pink.

"Sweetheart, sometimes sentimental value shows more love than using or wearing it." I looked down at Jocelyn, a small smile on my face as I brushed her black locks from her chocolate brown eyes. "Jesse how about you come to me before you chase your sister through the house?" I arched my eyebrows, a smirk on my face.

"Sorry mom." He replied quietly, chewing on his bottom lip. Silence settled over the room before I let out a sigh.

"How about my Children of the Corn head downstairs and go eat some food?" I let a smile on my face, enjoying my daughter's squeals of laughter as I tickled her sides.

"Will the Mother of the Corn be joining us for breakfast?" Jesse chuckled, sweeping his long hair from his crystal orbs.

"I will in a little bit. I've gotta call Father of the Corn and ask him when he might be home." I laughed, picking Jocelyn up and placing her on the ground. "Jess can you take Joyce down and get her breakfast?"

"Sure mom." He smiled heading out the door, Joyce following him down the stairs.

I rolled over, picking up my phone, and unlocking it. The bright screen hurting my eyes a little since they hadn't yet adjusted to the light. I opened my contacts, going to Ashley's. Before I could call, he called me. I smiled, answering the call and rolling back over in bed.

"Hello?" I sighed, closing my eyes waiting to hear his voice.

"Hey babe." His sweet voice called back. "How are you?"

"Good, tired." I laughed, rubbing my eyes again.

"Haven't been sleeping good hun?" He asked, his voice laced with concern.

"Not really, but your shirt brings me comfort." I giggled, he sighed.

"God I miss you."

"I miss you too Ash." I smiled, picturing his arms around me. "When are you coming home?"
