Chapter 13! Okay so I hope you all enjoy what I have planned in this chapter.
The last two weeks had been really toned down compared to the past couple months. I haven’t seen Ashley in two weeks. He’s been secluded in his apartment writing the notes for the last song on the new album. He wouldn’t tell me anything about it, and he barely answered his phone; for anyone.
Tonight was the album release party; and rather than get ready, here I was sitting on the couch watching Stephen King’s It. Yea, at times I feel as though I had no life, then at times I felt as though I never had alone time. I could never win. I let out a sigh, debating on getting up from my seat on the couch. Then my phone went off.
“Hey Alma” I smiled.
“When are you coming over?” she asked.
“Umm,” I thought “What time is it?”
“It’s three and the party’s at six” she replied.
“I’ll be over at five if you want help with anything” I said.
“That’d be great” she sighed in relief.
“Okay, but don’t ask me about Ash. He has isolated himself from everyone for the past week or so” I frowned.
“Do I need to come pick you up chica?” Alma asked worried.
“Oh, no that’s fine” I replied quickly “I have to go get my dress from the dry cleaners’, and I need new heels anyways”
“Okay” she said cheerily “I’ll see you in a couple hours”
“By Alma” I chuckled.
“By girly!” she laughed and then hung up.
“When you leaving?” Vicky asked as she came from the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn.
“Right now,” I blew out air “I need to get my dress”
“Okay, when can I expect you home?” she questioned.
“Before ten” I chuckled.
“Okay” she shook her head, processing the information.
“Adrian at Tommys’ house?” I asked as I sat up from the couch.
“Yea, he’ll be there for a sleep over” she replied.
“Well that’s good” I smiled.
“Well, I have my phone if you need to call me” she said “You know where I’ll be” she lifted up a popcorn bowl and the T.V. remote.
I laughed “Okay, thanks Vicky”
I trotted upstairs into my room. I changed into a Mötley Crüe shirt and a pair of gray skinny jeans. Then I had to take my time trying to find my chucks. After I had found them and put them on I stumbled down the stairs to the kitchen. I grabbed an apple from the fridge and my keys off the counter.
“I’ll be back in forty-five minutes” I said to Vicky as I passed the couch.
“Righty-oh” she waved her hand before shoving another handful of popcorn into her mouth.
Luckily the mall was about 15 minutes from the house. I could go there to pick up my dress, then to Charlotte Russe to get my new heels. I started the car and blasted the radio. KROQ was my favorite station, they played all the classics. And this gave me more time to think about me and Ashley.
I don’t understand why I always thought of him. It seemed as though every time my brain had the chance, it went to Ashley. I knew he wrote a song for me, and I wanted to do the same for him. I knew he made me feel whole, and alive, and like I have more purpose, or maybe just more confidence with him. I had strength and gave me a reason to try and strive. But I could not come up with words.
