She's Coming Home

A day of chaos 2

Matt POV
A few hours later Gabby woke up just as everyone was getting ready to have lunch. She was pretty out of it still when she woke up, looking confused and trying to move around but she kept having spasms.
Matt- hey Gabs, you're at 51, remember? You've been sleeping, Brett said you had another seizure
Gabby- mmm, hate seizures
Matt- I know. Do you want to get up? We're about to have lunch, maybe you can eat something?
Gabby- ok. Try eating
Matt- ok
I take the oxygen off and bring her out to the table, I keep her on my lap because she's still struggling with getting her brain to cooperate.
Kidd- Dawson! Look who finally decided to wake up!
Gabby- hi
She's still really tight and having a lot of spasms, its hard to keep her sitting on me because of her extensor tone being even worse than usual. I can tell she's in pain

Matt- are you ok? What can I do to help?
Gabby- stretch
Matt- are you ok laying on the couch for your stretches?
Gabby- ya
I lay her down and start doing all her stretches, I hate doing it because I can tell she's uncomfortable and in pain but she says it helps so I do it.
After stretches I bring her to the table again for lunch. Kidd feeds her while I hold her up on my lap, she doesn't eat a lot but I'm surprised she ate anything with how this day is going. After we eat I do some more stretches then get her sitting on the couch
Gabby- meds?
Matt- you had them right before you woke up. I'm going to get your water going now, I was waiting until you got up
Gabby- ok

Gabby POV
Matt gets my water set up and attaches it to my tube then a call comes in for everyone so Kylie comes to sit with me. I told her about the academy and she told me about girls on fire

Kylie- you should come sometime, I think everyone would like to meet you
Gabby- maybe
Kylie- it would be great. Kidd's awesome but she's only one person, it would be good for everyone to hear about your experience!
Gabby- you just want more stories about her at academy!
Kylie- maybe!
We both laugh then we hear someone coming into the firehouse, Boden got called too so we're the only ones here
Gabby- go see, I'm fine
Kylie- ok, yell if you need something, I'll be back

I could hear her talking to someone then I heard footsteps coming closer, I assumed it was Kylie coming back but chief Hatcher walked in

Chief- Dawson?
Gabby- chief
Chief- I thought you were in Puerto Rico
I guess he never heard what happened, interesting since he was the one who connected me with Puerto Rico but I'm fine with someone not knowing my entire medical history for once. My feed pump is in a backpack and the pulse ox is on the ground on the side of the couch where he can't see it, I'm sitting fairly normally, maybe I can get through this interaction without having to explain everything to him.

Gabby- don't worry, I'm not working
Chief- it looks like you're working
I forgot Brett had to change my shirt, I'm wearing a 51 shirt
Gabby- I'm not, I just had to borrow a shirt from Brett
Chief- why are you here then?
Gabby- don't worry I'm not going back to ambo to raise your blood pressure one shift at a time
I say, quoting him from one of our last interactions.
Chief- well, where's Brett, I was supposed to talk to her and get some reports
Gabby- they're on a call
Chief- ok, I'm going to look for those reports
He walks into the bunk room, I don't think anything of it until I hear him yell from in there
Chief- Dawson! Why do I feel like you have something to do with a bunch of ambo supplies being in the bunk room?
Crap, I forgot that my mini-hospital was set up in there. It is me but not how he thinks!
Just then Kylie comes back in.

Kylie- chief the reports aren't in Boden's office. Where did he go?
She asks me
Gabby- bunk room looking for the reports
Chief- Dawson could you explain this? Not even working and still causing trouble. Dawson!
I look at Kylie and quietly tell her
Gabby- apparently he doesn't know about my injury, I'd like to keep it that way if possible
Kylie- ok
He walks back into the room then Brett walks in, I guess ambo just got back
Brett- oh, hi chief, I'll grab you those reports
Chief- would you explain why there are ambo supplies in the bunk room since Dawson doesn't want to answer?
Gabby- he doesn't know
Chief- I don't know what?
Brett- those aren't from the ambo, I can show you the ambo if you want
Chief- I want an answer about the medical supplies in the bunk room
My plan isn't working, I don't want Brett to get in trouble. I try to sit up more so I can see him better, I feel my tube being pulled on but just ignore it
