Alison's POV

"Welcome to Eastlake High, Mr Black. Take a seat next to Ms Jackson, she will be showing you around the school until you find your way around." Mr Coates said in a friendly tone. He only used this voice around new students and the principal. But little did he know that his plan backfired, because I was planning on spending as much time with Adrian as I could.

As he walked towards me, the girls were all swooning.

"Mr Coates?" asked Kiara, Maddy's slut of a best friend. "I'm willing to show Adrian around if Alison doesn't want to." she said as she fluttered her eyelashes way too many times. Oh hell no. She wasn't stealing my underwear model.

"It's fine Kiara, I'm very willing. But maybe you should make a stop at the bathroom, wipe off all that slutiness, put some actual clothes on and then ask Adrian if he's willing. Don't you have a reputation for forcing yourself onto the whole male population?" Wow I was on a roll today. The period is to blame.

"How dare you!" Kiara whined.

"Okay girls, that's enough. You're scaring the new kid." Adrian snickered. "Alison, are you willing to show Adrian around?" I nodded. "Then it's settled, you're dismissed."

I packed up my things and started walking, with Adrian in front of me. I made sure to wink at Kiara on the way out. He started walking out of the hallway when I questioned him.

"Hey, what are you doing?" I called.

"Skipping." He answered, not even turning around.

"What? But you can't, it's your first day and I need to show you around." I pleaded.

"Yes I can. You can't tell me what to do."

"Where are you going?" This kid was starting to surprise me.

"Why do you care? Just go back to class." He scowled.

"But I'll get in trouble, you can't just leave!"

"Watch me." Adrian started walking away.

He was definitely not what I expected. Judging by his body, I thought he'd be the jock type. But a bad boy? I mean, he had a fricken 6 pack! I guess that just made things more interesting for me. I was debating on going back to class or following him when I made up my mind.

I was really good at spying on people. One time in sophomore year, I heard Maddy sneak out. So I followed her. I made sure to keep my distance, but still be close enough to stay with her. I ended up at a party. It was for seniors, so I don't know how she was invited. But when she got back home at 2am, still slightly drunk, I was waiting in her room. She played the innocent card before I showed her the photo I took of her climbing down the window. I told her to give me $100 or I'd tell mum. So she did. What she didn't know is that I would never have the guts to actually dob her in. I was always a smart kid.

I followed him for a good 3 minutes or so until he stopped at a house and walked onto the patio. And that's when I stepped on a twig. I tried to hide behind the tree next to me, but that didn't go so well.

"Why are you following me?" Adrian walked towards me, but I stayed hidden behind the tree. "Ali, I know you're there, I can see your feet. And your arms."

"What are you talking about? Who's Ali? I'm clearly a tree." I don't know why, but he made me nervous. And when I'm nervous, all that comes out of my mouth is word vomit.

He laughed. Like, actually laughed! It was deep and mesmerising and perfect. I could listen to it all day. I poked my head to see if he was still there. He was gone. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding and turned around, but bumped into something. Or someone.

I made an umph sound and fell on the ground. Well that was embarrassing. Way to go Alison. Or should I say Ali? No, it only sounded good rolling off his tongue. I looked up to see a very tall and muscly tree. Nope, it was Adrian. But I wish he would turn into a tree. Or maybe I could. How cool would that be? Trees don't have to worry about school or what they wanna be when they grow up.

"Ali?"

"Huh?" I snapped out of my dreams.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked.

"Don't you ever wonder what it's like to be a tree?" I blurted out.

"What? No, not really." Adrian laughed. Dammit he has to stop that or I'm gonna loose it.

"It's so easy. All you do is sit there, in the same spot until you die. Unless someone turns you into paper."

"Wow. And I thought that you were just a boring, nosy nerd", He smirked. God, I loved his smirk.

"Hey!"

It was awkward for a few seconds, but I broke the silence.

"So... Who lives in that house?" I asked, slightly scared of the answer.

The smirk came off of his face, and he remained emotionless.

"Nothing you need to know about." He said with his head hung low.

I decided not to push it.

"Why did you move to Ravenswood?"

"Just wanted a change of scenery." Pfft yeah right, as if I believe that. I know a liar when I see one. They look around and fiddle with their hands, and that was exactly what he was doing. I told you I was smart.

"Where are your parents?"

"What is this? 20 questions?" He answered, annoyed.

I was taken back.

"Um, no I was just trying to be friendly," I said quietly.

"Well stop it. I don't do friends." And with that, he walked past me and ran.

Where was the guy who was laughing with me a few minutes ago? Is he bipolar? Why did he react badly when I asked about his parents? I'd known Adrian for less than half an hour, and he's already messed with my head. The fact that he's insanely good looking doesn't help. Something was in that building. And I was going to find out what.
