"It taunts you."
"I'll just have a muffin," Lana said to the waitress. The waitress nodded and took her menu and left. Everyone else had already ordered.
"So, how good is this place?" Elena asked her.
"Well, from the reviews it's supposed to be amazing,"
"What're your plans for today?" Clover asked Lana. She was sitting beside Elena.
"I actually have a ball to go to," Lana smirked.
"A what?" Elena's eyes widened.
"A ball,"
"Can I tag along?" Clover begged.
"Tommy was originally meant to come with me, but plans have changed," Lana looked over to Tommy beside her, who was playing with his sleeves. He stopped and looked up when he heard his name.
"What?" he asked.
"Oh, just something about the ball," Lana said. She went to go back to talking to Clover and Elena when he turned, but stopped when she saw Tommy look over to her again.
"Yes?" she asked.
"Sorry about not wanting to go to the ball,"
"I've told you that it's fine," she assured him.
"I know you told me that, but what if something happens?" He sounded like he was about to cry, "I won't be able to protect you. And even at that, I can't protect you," He started hyperventilating and he kept trying to ramble, "If something... hap-happens to you... I can't-"
"Hey, hey, hey," Lana grabbed his arms, "Come on, let's go outside." Tommy shook his head in agreement and held onto Lana as they walked out.
"What happened with Tommy?" Finley asked Clover after they had gone completely outside.
"Overthinking," Clover solemnly replied. Finley sighed and looked back to Ophelia, who apparently already knew the answer.
"His poor soul, constantly torturing itself," Even though she was still speaking in a monotone, you could hear the sadness in her voice.
"I mean after experiencing... that. Do you blame him?" Lance butted in. Then, the waitress was back with everyones' food.
"Gene, stop pulling my hair please," Beatrix gently pulled his hand away. She was holding him.
Lance looked over, "Do you want me to get his blanket?"
She nodded, "Yeah, and his bottle."
"I don't know how you have the patience for him. If a child was pulling my hair, I would've thrown it," Kai said as he put butter on his biscuit.
Beatrix shrugged, "It gets frustrating, but I try to control it. It being my impatience."
"That's a first," Lance mumbled. He was digging in the baby bag.
Beatrix punched his shoulder with her free hand.
"Ow, yo, dude. Not cool, I don't have free hands right now," He was now holding a bottle in one and a small blanket in the other.
Beatrix rolled her eyes and snatched the blanket out of his hand. Gene was about to reach for her hair, but she gave him the blanket.
"So, what are you all going to do later?" she asked everyone.
"Reunion," Remington said, stuffing his food in his mouth.
"With who?"
"With his old friend," Klaus replied for him as he saw him struggle to talk with all the food in his mouth, "Also, that's gross Remi."
