"...especially one being more calamitous than the other."
After about a week and a half of being in custody and questioning, they were let go and free to leave the country. Even though they were about to leave for real, they decided to fulfill Beatrix's wishes of going to the Eiffel Tower. They had brought everyone, even Elian, Fadia, Quinn, Lovis, Cedar, even Varya and Kenny.
"In all mey time of bein' in Paris, I ain't traveled up 'ere in fifty years," Kenny said, looking astonished at the city of lights, "I 'member Elsie takin' pictures wif ha' cam'ra. Still got 'em in mey wallet."
"I bet they're beautiful," Beatrix said, carrying Gene on her hip.
"May I see them?" Varya asked.
"Yeah sure, hold on," He reached around in his pocket then looked back up at Varya, "Ya know, ya look quite like mey daughta'. Got 'at youfful smile."
As he pulled out his wallet, Beatrix was pointing out towards the city.
"Hey Gene see that? That's where we were staying. I think," Gene babbled something.
"Yeah. And there's one of the restaurants we went to," Gene started giggling. Beatrix tickled him to continue the laughing. From an angle, you could see Lance staring at them in the background. He had tears in his eyes. He wanted to join in on it, but he wanted to respect her boundaries for now. It hurt him to miss out on it though.
"I wish I brought my daughters," Fadia came up to Beatrix, "But they'd be too much to handle."
"You should have. It would've been nice to meet them,"
"They should spend time with their father I feel. He loves them as much as I do,"
Beatrix was about to think about Lance and what had happened, but she was interrupted by Mariah.
"Is this where all the moms are?" she asked.
"I guess so. I was just showing Gene the city and everywhere we'd been," Beatrix shook her head in shock, "Wait, are you a mom?"
Mariah leaned in and whispered, "Greg told me not to tell anyone yet, but I guess it's okay if you know. You're a mom so it's like a mom-to-mom thing."
She chuckled a little, "Yeah, you're right."
Mariah grinned ear to ear and turned towards the city as she rubbed her stomach.
"Hey Carter, that's a park," she pointed out, "And there goes a dog. I think that's a golden retriever."
At the other end of the lookout was Elian and Remington. Elian had his arm wrapped around him, letting him lay his head on his shoulder.
"Ya know mate," Elian started, "I don't fink I've eva' been more proud of ya."
"Why? Ain't like I've done some'ing profound,"
"Ta you, maybe not. But ta mey... ta mey i's profound,"
"Like wot?"
"I mean ya managed ta survive an ova'dose wifout Na'can,"
Remington grinned, "Yeah. Ya punched mey in the hea't an' I lived. I neva' fanked ya for 'at."
"'At was luck," Elian smirked, "Plus, ya found someone 'at really cares 'bout ya."
"Yeah. I found someone 'at loves mey,"
"Are you guys talking about me?" Klaus asked as he came up beside Remington.
