Thursday evening, Jungkook went to Jimin's home after he finally ended his exams. In two weeks he'd graduate, and he was so excited.
Jimin still wasn't home yet because the teachers stayed back until the entire school was empty. Some students wrote a different subject's exam during the second session which started at 2PM so Jimin, being one of the invigilators for the second exam of History (which Jungkook didn't do), had to stay back until 4PM this afternoon to invigilate.
The younger sighed as he unlocked Jimin's home with his spare key and entered, locking the door behind him and dropping his school backpack on the floor near the couch. He was happy. He was finally done with exams. As long as he passed, he wouldn't have to write supplementary exams. He prayed that he actually did pass. Jimin would be so proud of him, if he did a good job. And that was all Jungkook really wanted, deep down; for Jimin to be proud of him.
The younger entered the bedroom of Jimin's blue themed home. The younger always felt like this became more of a home, compared to his aunt's place. He was barely with her most of the time. She worked until eight PM, whereas he started work at eight. He didn't go out of his room to see her much unless it was for dinner. He spoke to her sometimes, and although he really loved her, he just couldn't bring himself to open up to her when his parents passed on. He just felt alone all this time.
That was until he met Jimin. The older truly stuck by him through a lot. Jimin was there from the moment he started his new job at Jungkook's school. Although Jungkook was a bit mean at first, Jimin treated him with kindness afterward. That was all Jungkook had ever dreamed of. He wanted to feel important; special to someone. It didn't have to be everyone. Just one person was enough.
Jungkook had a history. Before he became a "bad boy" with no feelings, he was a sweet nerd who was sensitive. And, he still was sensitive (to the point where Jimin ignoring him sliced his heart open), but he learned to hide his feelings well. He hated feeling vulnerable because of his exes. He had only dated girls but they all cheated on him. Every time. It was the same fucking story about how he couldn't love them like they wanted. He thought people preferred the older guys who could assert their dominance more. So... Jungkook became a bad boy. He realized that if he looked more dominant and intimidating then that would make people want him.
And he was correct. People did want him more now. But, they didn't want him because of him, they wanted him because of how he looked on the outside. Inside, he still was a sensitive and sweet boy. He just had a hard time opening up now because of his past relationships.
But with Jimin... Suddenly things began to make more sense. It's like suddenly the world fell into place, stars aligning, when he had that first kiss with Jimin. Granted, they slept together immediately after that first kiss, but he never wanted to break away from Jimin. The older was like a breath of fresh air in a polluted world.
He was too kind; he was sweet and his smile was bright. His words always stuck with Jungkook. Even during their first encounter, Jimin didn't hesitate to put him in his place. The thing that Jimin said about how he looks nice but has a shitty personality really stuck with Jungkook because the younger wasn't always this way. He assumed that people liked assholes - because of how girls tended to fawn over the handsome assholes. No one ever looked at a sweet boy the same way. People were into that trope of "fixing a broken boy". Jungkook was hurt and had issues of his own to deal with but he never thought that Jimin's words calling him out for being an asshole would make him think further.
What had an even bigger impact on Jungkook was that while the younger had a guard up because of how everyone ignored him, Jimin just suddenly broke through his walls. Every other teacher had never pushed Jungkook the way Jimin did. No other teacher could see Jungkook's efforts even when he put just a small bit of effort. No one, not even other students, could see how Jungkook craved validation. He loved feeling important, and no one made him feel that way. That was until Jimin stepped into the frame.
