I scribbled down a note for Rue saying that I was okay; that I'd gone off to Coffeelandia; and that I'd also be back by 8 or so (the university's curfew is 10:30 PM). I followed the directions until I finally reached my desired destination. Coffeelandia looked like an ordinary coffee shop and there are 4 tables with some chairs outside. It has a clear glass window covered with coffee-colored curtains. I got inside and found out that it wasn't as small as it looked like from the outside, but it was almost like a house or a mini library with a café in it. They have tables with soft chairs, sofas with side tables and lampshades, and even pillows on the carpet floor which is quite suited for 'librocubicularists' (people who love to read in bed). There are 5 rows of tall book shelves filled with different books. I was so amazed that tears literally formed in the corner of my eyes. The place already gave me a clue - you shouldn't judge a book by its cover or a coffee shop by how small it looks from the outside. It is indeed a perfect place as Rue what've said in her note.
I went up to the counter to order a coffee-based Oreo Frappe and 4 pieces of chocolate chip cookies. It only cost me $25, including the $5 for the membership card. I was so happy that I felt like I this place was my little piece of heaven. After ordering, I decided to sit in the beanbag chair with a table by its side. I left my order number on the table and decided to check on some books to read while waiting. As soon as I arrived in the 1st row of book shelves, I immediately spotted Nicholas Sparks' book "A Walk To Remember" on the topmost shelf. I haven't read the book for a long time so I stood on my toes and tried to reach the book when another hand took it. I was shocked and immediately turned to face the stranger who took the book. It was a guy. He had green eyes, broad shoulders, a fair skin (or almost the same shade as mine). He had a straight black hair which was cropped short in the sides and back, and the top is jagged cut which is a very neat look if I do say so myself. He smiled at me and I just stared at him in a confused and pissed-off look.
"Excuse me? But I was gonna read that book. Do you mind?" I asked.
"It's not what you think it is. I don't mean to insult you or anything but I saw you having a hard time reaching this book so I thought that I'd help you out. I'm sorry for giving you the wrong impression, again." he said.
"Ohh, I see. I'm sorry. Umm, what do you mean by 'again'? This is like our first encounter." I said in a confused tone.
"Oh, so you didn't remember me? I was the one responsible for what happened to you yesterday. You know.. you, me, my best friend, basketball, flying ball, gym? You don't remember?"
"Ohhhhh. You were that guy playing with Chase." I said, amused.
"Haha! Of course you know Chase. Who wouldn't right?" he smiled.
"That's because I was very unfortunate to have him as my classmate in all subjects and my self-declared 'friend' too." I smiled.
"Oh, okay. Anyway, I'm sorry again for yesterday and for what I did a while ago. I know you already think I am an asshole or something. But really, I'm sorry. And I'm Joshua Perkins by the way." He said, smiling and handing over the book to me.
