"Mom? There's so much food left." Sophie said.
"Well, I can't leave your two sisters hungry. They're still having dinner here later and they need to rest, sweetie." Mom said as a matter of fact-ly.
"That's right! We could reheat them in the microwave." I said.
"Don't worry Sophie. We'll be fine." Rue offered her a smile and she nodded.
"Mom, why don't you and Soph go ahead and prepare for your trip? I mean, it's almost 1PM and you guys have to be early there."
"Don't worry Mom. Stella and I will handle the dishes." Rue offered.
"Okay dear. Thank you." Mom smiled at us and headed to her room while Sophie was already running up the stairs.
"Sooo... what is it that you're supposed to tell me?" Rue asked, grinning at me with an excited look. I bit my lower lip and inhaled deeply.
"Chase and I... kissed." I said, looking down at the pile of dishes in front of me.
"Woah! Seriously?! When did that happen?" Rue's eyes were wide and she opens her mouth in total shock.
"It's not really a kiss, kiss. It was more like a peck." I could feel my cheeks burning.
"Stella, I don't care if it's a kiss, kiss, or even just a peck. The thing is, the two of you kissed!"
"Well, it was also more like Chase was the only one who kissed me because I didn't respond. I just stood there frozen in shock."
"Physics, my dear Stella." Rue grinned.
"Huh?" I looked up to her, confused. Rue rolled her eyes at me.
"How can you kiss someone without you being kissed?"
"I.. I.. don't know. I guess you still get to be kissed either way because there's physical contact. There's an inertia or attraction which made that physical contact between two people."
"That, my dear, is correct! So do you still need more clarifications? Physics, or should I say, you yourself explained it well." Rue winked at me and I groaned.
"It's just.. well.. it's just, it was all so sudden. I didn't see any of it coming." I looked down at the pile of dishes again and picked one up then turned the faucet on.
"Please enlighten me." Rue said with a smile in her voice.
"Well, it all started when we got back to our room. We were talking outside when Rachel saw us and she approached him immediately, inviting him to her party. Chase said that he couldn't go because he's going home with me, and Rachel's mouth almost dropped to the ground because she thought that the Chase and I are together. So before Chase even started twisting things, I cut him off and assured Rachel that he's going to her party later, so he had no choice and Rachel even made me her witness to Chase's promise."
"Stella, you do realize that you placed his entire being in mortal danger, right? Rachel's a monster and she's been stalking Chase since high school. She'd do anything, and I mean anything and everything just to get Chase's attention, most especially just to get him to sleep with her. She got so much dibs on him that she wouldn't stop until she finally gets what she wants. Poor Chase." Rue shook her head.
"So you mean to say that I got him in so much trouble?"
"What I meant to say was, you my dear, just lured Chase into Rachel's trap. Since he's no longer with Jessica, the party later was definitely her chance to finally put her plan into full action – darkness, flashing lights, alcohol in their systems, plus raging hormones; it's not going to end well if we don't get them to get out of that party as early as we can."
