"I'm not sure

"I'm not sure...Y/N? What do you think?" My sister asked me from the small platform she was standing on, twisting to view herself in a mirror before glancing over towards me as I had yet to answer. It's not that I was disinterested, I was by all means interested in what was going on...Well, maybe not interested but I definitely was not completely absent the entire day.

At least at the beginning of our jumping from store to store, watching my older sister try on gown after gown through the day. I was in fact paying attention at some point. She just happened to call on me when I was in my thoughts.

"Y/N," my mother pulled my attention as her tone was harsh and throaty, a voice which she didn't normally have, it was only used with me when I was in trouble or being scolded. "Sit up," she instructed, nodding towards my older sister as she gestured for me to answer her.

I sat up straight, looking over to my sister to see another beautiful gown on her. In all honesty, my sister was the epitome of immaculateness.

She had the perfect hair, soft skin, a kind face, her E/C eyes were ones that were always bright and genuine when she looked at you. She was tall as well, taller than my mother though that might have been due to the slight hunch my mother had.

When recalling my childhood, I could not pinpoint a time when she wasn't being praised for her talent, beauty, consideration, and her heart. She was without a doubt, the favorite of the Y/L/N offspring.

I surveyed the dress she had on, seeing the complete turn-around in overall design from this dress she had on, in comparison to the others she had which were, to put simply, plain.

The gown she had was long sleeved, there being lace for the sleeves which covered her chest as well as a few inches of her neck. The skirt of the gown flowing down to the floor, being both loose at the bottom, and fitted at the waist. All details which seemed to only compliment her as a person, the flowers also appealing to the girlish side of her.

"It's beautiful, Y/S/N. It's compliments you very well," I finally answered.

My sister released a laugh through a breath, "You think so?"

"I truly think so," I nodded. My sister seemed nearly as happy as the day she was proposed to. A joyful smile filled her lips as she turned back to the mirror, turning to catch all angles of the gown.

As contradictory as it sounds, I don't find myself jealous of my sister. She's been the perfect daughter, the perfect pianist, and soon enough, she'll be the perfect wife, but if anything, I found her to be nothing short of admirable.

"I think I—This may be my dress," my sister said, still looking at herself in the mirror.

"I do think it's beautiful, Y/S/N," I nodded, "I—"

"I don't know about this one dear," my mother cut in, shaking her head as she pursed her lips in thought. "No," she decided, "It doesn't quite suit you. It doesn't cater to your features, my dear."
