Two weeks had passed since the business party at Mr. Alexei's house. Meaning, a week had passed since Yelena told me about Mr. Francis Constantine, as well as lied to me. The week also had significance as it was also when my brother told me the truth about the family. Not that I had not known of any truth, but now I knew practically the whole truth known to an outside person of the family.

After the ride home from the party as well as after the talk during that ride, things were better with my brother. It took some time and forced conversations and quality time but we were healing old wounds and bad impressions gained of one another so much in the last month. We were finally becoming bearable to one another, and seemingly more open to discussing things both serious and ridiculous with one another, as we had before everything happened between us.

Needless to say, life was becoming a bit quiet. Chores revolved around the wedding preparation which was to be held in a week's time, my family was more and more busy within the home as well as in visiting the place the wedding and reception was to be held. I was also busy helping my sister pack for her wedding day. She was to be settling to move to Paris after the reception, where she and her new husband would begin their lives with one another.

Life was busy and aside from the business of the wedding, things felt calm, neutral, that is until I came around to thinking about Yelena and her family. A topic and internal turmoil which I quite honestly worked hard to avoid, to ignore. I didn't want to think or worry about it anymore seeing as Yelena did in fact lie to me that night. She lied when I asked for honesty, and when I even gave her a chance to verify her truth was in fact the truth, and she lied anyway.

It was all something that could have easily been avoided, the disturbance in the uncertain truths of it, had she told me the whole truth. But now, I was stuck in who and what to believe, also not wanting to verify or continue in my search for proof or explanation of any of it with anyone, knowing my main choices were my brother or Yelena.

Truth be told, I had no interest in discussing it anymore, and in doing so, I didn't bring it up or speak of it any further with my brother or Yelena. In fact, I hadn't even spoken to Yelena since that night.

As immature and insensible as it seems, I didn't want to pay attention or pay any mind to any of it anymore. I just wanted to focus my energy and time on the wedding, my family, and the book I was in search of at the moment.

"That's a good one," a voice sounded from behind me. I was just pulling a book from the shelf, only when I heard the voice which was undeniably one which I craved the most, I tensed at the sound, reminding myself I should be repulsed by the person in this moment or any further ones for the time being.

"I don't recall asking," I stated indifferently, shoving the book back into place before moving further down the aisle.

"Sassy today are we?" Yelena said playfully, leaning against this shelf I was facing, a smirk on her lips as she bit her bottom lip to contain the facial expression.
