The wind was soft, the ground below me being hard as Yelena and I were sitting by the creek near to her home. My back was to Yelena as I was leaning against her, her back being to a tree.
The stream from the creek sounded as it rushed, it's trickling in the waterbed being light as the rushing of the water was a bit more prominent.
It was a pleasant evening, I'd been with Yelena most of the morning as my mother and sister were out reviewing the place the wedding would be held, ensuring it would be ready in time. I took advantage of their absence and my brother's need for attending work and thought it a good opportunity to spend the majority of the day with Yelena. Given no one would notice me gone anyways.
I turned the page in my book, the paper making the pleasant sound it does upon turning the page as Yelena's fingertips lightly brushed my arms up and down soothingly. The entire setting was calming, and it was all definitely far more pleasant than the day I had with my brother not too long ago.
Since my day with my brother, I hadn't talked to him. Practically avoided him and remained to myself, which didn't help with resolving our issues but at this point, I was unbothered by any 'inconvenience' I caused by remaining distant.
From the corner of my eye I could see Yelena's right hand reach down to the dirt, picking through the dirt, picking up a twig and digging into the ground. She drew small symbols, shifting from drawing lines to poking holes in the dirt before becoming bored, tossing the twig on the ground away from her, sighing softly.
"Dorogoyy," she leaned towards my right side, leaning forward a bit as she peered over to me.
"Hmm?" I glanced at her peering eyes, turning back to my book before looking back at her again, noticing a soft smile on her face. "What?" I said through a small laugh, not because I found her silent smile at me to be amusing, more so because she was just staring at me. Though she wasn't necessarily making me uncomfortable, I was more curious as to what she wanted, what she'd called me for, and why she was staring at me with a smile on her lips and doe-eyes.
"Lena," I said through a small laugh as before, Yelena's smile growing a bit at my confusion though she continued to remain silent. "Why are you staring at me like that?" I continued, looking into her eyes as I waited for an answer, one which at this point I was unsure I'd even receive. Her brown-green eyes appear lighter with the sun, seeming more green than anything, a dull, soft, yet enchanting green. The pupil of her eyes appeared to have taken over the center of her iris as we both fell into a short second of silence.
The silence, my confusion, my questioning came to a halt as she brought her right hand over to the left side of my face. Her thumb brushing over my cheek soothingly, her eyes moving over my face before her hand gilded over to my chin. Her smile was still present on her lips as she focused on different areas of my face, as though she were taking in description or an image of it.
