Nick Fury and Maria Hill walked into the Avengers' tower and traveled up the elevator to the main floor. Fury had been keeping a low profile due to the fact many believed him to be dead. With the betrayal of Alexander Pierce and the exposure of Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D., he had limited resources but was determined to end the reign of Hydra once and for all.
After the incident in Washington, Fury went undercover to find more intel on Hydra that weren't exposed in the files that were downloaded to the internet by Black Widow. So far, he managed to grab different encrypted files from Hydra bases that he did manage to take down. When he returned from Europe, he had new information that needed to be investigated immediately. He told the Avengers to meet him at the tower for an important mission.
When the elevator doors opened, most of the Avengers were there. Tony and Steve were sitting on the couch, watching a game. Natasha was in the kitchen cooking dinner. Clint and Bruce were playing pool. It was a rare occasion to see these heroes be able to relax and enjoy their day. It was a shame that Fury had to ruin the mood.
"Well, doesn't this look cozy?" Fury said as he made his way to the living room.
"All thanks to me," Tony said, raising his hand. "I mean, after all, I did donate this fabulous tower for all of us. You're welcome, by the way."
"I need everyone in the conference room. We got a situation," Fury instructed.
Tony scoffed as they walked to the conference room with a bowl of popcorn. "I thought he wasn't the boss of us anymore."
Once the team was in the conference room, Steve asked, "What's going on, Fury?"
"Hydra is the problem," Fury replied as he opened the file and set it down on the table. "In one of the encrypted files that I managed to get while I was in Europe, one of ours managed to open an encrypted file. The file showed another assassin who worked for Hydra for fifteen years. She even had involvement with the Hand. Hydra called her the Luna."
Tony pulled out his phone, scanned the documents, and flicked his phone forward so that the documents would show up on the monitors. "Geez, you don't even have a name for this girl. No birthday, nothing. Barnes and Romanoff's files had more information than this."
"We are still working on the encryptions to see if there's more information on her. If you want, Stark, you are more than welcome to try opening the encrypted file," Fury commented.
"What's so special about her?" Clint asked.
"She's an enhanced, supposedly escaped from Hydra. In 2005, The Luna was sent on a mission to kill a mayor in Louisiana. Instead, she killed her team and went into hiding. She kept a low profile, but an earthquake in Los Angeles made her location become known."
Hill played a video clip of the earthquake disaster. Through a traffic surveillance video, they saw a girl—the Luna—helping a family out of a car that tipped over. The Avengers watched as the Luna ripped the car door off and threw it a few feet away so the family could come out. Once the family was out of the car, they started to run to the safest location, but a tree began to fall and would've fallen on the child. However, with inhuman speed and strength, the Luna managed to hold the tree and move it away before it could hit the child.
"She seems pretty strong for a girl that small," Bruce noted. "And fast."
"So, why do we have interest in this Luna girl?" Tony questioned.
"Look at her other known powers," Natasha pointed out. "Empathic abilities, enhanced speed, strength, agility, healing, and so on. Other than the empath, do those other powers remind you of anyone in the room?"
