The brewing war was it's peak now, but for the sake of peace one last attempt was made by the Pandavas and they had sent Shri Krishna to Hastinapur with a Sandhi-prastav.
But Pride is blind since birth, Duryodhan couldn't see the destruction he had invited upon Kuruvansh by refusing any means of peace with the Pandavas.
Even Shakuni tried to convince Duryodhan to accept the proposal of giving 5 villages to the Pandavas but Karn came in between and instigated Duryodhan to wage a war.
Angraj was also in the same state of mind as Duryodhan, he too in the fire of proving himself better than Arjun didn't see the destruction that would happen.
But then came a shocking confession from Kunti that Karn was infact her son. This had made Karn take a second thought as to how can he raise weapons against his own brothers in the war.
Nevertheless, he promised Kunti that he'll only kill Arjun and not the other Pandavas. No matter how high the price was, Karn wasn't ready to leave Duryodhan's side.
Both the armies of Kauravas and Pandavas had gathered in the Warfield of Kurukshetra. Before the war, Indra had come and asked Karn to give his armour and earrings for the betterment of whole world.
Being the Daanveer he was, Karn agreed and gave his divine armour and earrings. But he also asked for Vasavi shakti in return for he wished to vanquish Arjun from it.
In the camp of Duryodhan, Karn boasted about how he will vanquish Arjun now when Bhism showed Angraj his place by calling him reckless and a half-rathi.
This hurt the ego of Karn to such an extent that he refused to fight beside the grand sire.
"Gangeya jeevati na yudhse !" Karn proclaimed. (As long as the son of Ganga is alive I shall not fight)
Next day the war was about to begin, Arjun was confused and lost. The people against him were his sculptors, who had made him the man he is.
How is raising weapons against his own family will be considered Dharma ? This was the only question that plagued his mind.
He then remembered the same conversation he had with Tamasvini before their marriage. He very clearly remembered that she has told him that Krishna will explain the ways of Dharma to him one day.
And thus Arjun looked at Krishna, confused and doubtful about his prescribed duties and asked him to guide his way.
The supreme lord smiled as everything became still, he showed Arjun his Vishwaroop and told him about the truth of Dharma, Karma and Moksh. He gave Arjun the entire Brahmagyan.
"Yada yada hi dharmasya glanirbhavati bharata |
Abhythanamadharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham ||
Paritranaya sadhunang vinashay cha dushkritam |
Dharmasangsthapanarthay sambhabami yuge yuge ||" Krishna said to Arjun.
(Whenever, O Bharat, dharma declines and unrighteousness is rampant, I manifest myself.
I manifest myself from age to age to defend the pious, destroy the wicked, and strengthen dharma.)
"Naṣhṭo mohaḥ smṛitir labdhā tvat-prasādān mayāchyuta |
Sthito smi gata-sandehaḥ kariṣhye vachanaṁ tava ||" Arjun bowed and then picked up his Gandiv.
(O infallible one, by your grace my illusion has been dispelled, and I am situated in knowledge. I am now free from doubts, and I shall act according to your instructions.)
