After being guided by Shri Krishna Arjun was free of all doubts. He picked up his Gandiv mounted himself on the rath as Krishna again picked up the leash of the horses.
Thus began the mother of all wars, many warriors were killed from both the sides. But great valor was showcased by the Trigun-putras and Abhimanyu.
When they fought together the entire earth trembled, it felt as though Mahakal himself was fighting in five different forms.
On the 10th day the commander of the Kaurav army Bhism was made to lay down on the bed of arrows by Shikhandi and Arjun. This was the only way the old warrior wanted to die and he had told this to Arjun before the war had started.
After the fall of Bhism, Dronacharya took the position of Commander and Karn also entered the battlefield. It was difficult for them to save the Kaurav brothers from Bheem's grasp due to Abhimanyu.
Thus a treacherous plan was made to distract Arjun into going away from battlefield, and capturing Abhimanyu in the Chakravyuh on the 13th day.
But luckily the son of Subhadra knew all the way to break it and was successfully able to defeat all 6 Maharathis in the Chakravyuh, slayed Laxman Kumar and even come out of it.
But he had very much injured himself in the process, when Arjun came to know about the conspiracy that was planned the entire Kurukshetra faced his wrath on the 14th day, when Vibhatsu alone destroyed 11 akshouhini sena of Kauravas.
On that day Durmasen was killed by Biraj and Vrishasen was killed by Nabhraj in a fair fight.
In reply to this a night attack was planned by the Kauravas but because of Ghatotkach the tables were turned. But the son of Hidimba had to give up his life because of Karn shooting Vasavi shakti at him.
On the 15th day the plan was made by the Pandavas to kill Dronacharya by using his one weakness, putra-moh.
"Ashwathama hato ! Naro va Kunjaro." Yudhishthir said. (Ashwathama died, not man but elephant)
But as Dronacharya heard the first part he fell on his knees and unable to hear the rest. By then Dhrishtadyumn came beheaded Dronacharya. When Ashwathama came to know how his father was killed lost his entire calmness and composure that day.
After Dronacharya Karn became the commander but still was unable to save Dushashan on the 16th day when he was brutally killed by Bheem, now only Duryodhan was left.
On the 17th Karn had the most deadly and decisive battle with Arjun. The wheel of Rashmirathi's rath got stuck inside the earth.
Arjun shot an arrow at him but Karn reminded him of Dharma, at that Krishna scolded him and reminded Karn that he himself has never followed the path of righteousness and has always cherry-picked the times he wanted to do Dharma while other times he bravely committed adharma.
Karn then shot Brahmastra at Arjun, who countered it with aindrastra. Arjun then shot Agneya-astra at Karn and he countered it with Varunastra. Lastly Arjun with full strength shot Anjalika astra at Karn, beheading him.
It was later revealed to him by Kunti that Karn was the eldest brother of Pandavas, they were at grief but were consoled by Krishna and made to focus again on the war.
It was the 18th day, Duryodhan had come with the body of Vajra because of Gandhari. But luckily due to Krishna he thighs were left weak.
Sehdev had killed the conspirator Shakuni and while Bheem and Duryodhan were engaged in a duel of mace.
Balram had also come to spectate the match between his students Duryodhan and Bheem. It seemed no matter how hard Vrikoder tried his attacks were putting a scratch on Duryodhan.
"Attack again Bhrata Bheem !" Krishna said.
Bheem looked at him and saw Krishna was pointing at his thigh.
"Remember your oath ! Attack again !" Krishna said.
At that Bheem remembered his oath that he had made in Dyut Sabha, he angrily roared and hits Duryodhan's thighs breaking.
Duryodhan falls down on the ground screaming and wincing in pain as he holds his bloody broken thigh. This was against the rules of Gadayudh and hence Balram was angered. Balram summoned his Hal and stomped up to Bheem.
"BHEEM ! DID DRONACHARYA AND I DIDN'T TAUGHT YOU NOT TO HIT BELOW WAIST ! YOU HAVE INSULTED YOUR TEACHERS !" Balram roared raising his hal.
"Stop Adishesh !" A voice said.
