Twilight had been watching the scene go down. He still didn't know what happened to the other hero, but he of course figured he lost loved ones. He had an urge to go over and comfort Wild. He wanted to pull him close and wipe his tears away. But instead just stayed back. 'He probably doesn't want to see me,' he thought. He was about to walk away until he heard that last line. That last phrase that came from the little Knight's mouth.

"Why...why wasn't it me who died instead of you..why..??"

Twilight immediately turned back, and ran towards the other without thinking. He slowed his pace once he was in front of him. He then kneeled down and grabbed the other's arm, pulling him to his chest. "Don't say that. Don't you ever say that.!" He glared down at Wild as he held him tightly. Wild gasped softly when he was pulled into a chest. He looked up at Twilight with widened eyes. "W-What are you doing here?? I thought you left!" He exclaimed. The Wolf hero shook his head. "I just..uh..happened to be around the neighborhood- that's not the point. The point is..why would you say something like that.? I don't know what happened to you..but you're still here for a reason..there's always a reason." He said softly, gently running his thumbs over the others cheeks to wipe his tears away. "I don't..want to be in a world like this..I lost everyone..I don't want to do this alone..I want my family back!" Wild cried out, squeezing his eyes shut tightly. Twilight felt sorry for him. He stared down at him, concern clear in his eyes. There is no way he could ever bring himself to leave the new hero now. He sighed softly and lifted Wild's face to look up at him. "You won't do this alone..not anymore. I know..I'm not your family..but I'll be here. I'll walk those long lonely trails with you..I'll fight alongside you, and I'll protect you. No matter how much you push me away, I'm not going anywhere..I promise." He said, staring down at the sobbing boy in his arms. Wild looked up at him in shock, more tears rolling down his cheeks. "I was..so mean to you though..why are you helping me..?" He choked out. The elder hero chuckled softly. "Eh, I kinda provoked you. We can start over..maybe even be friends this time around." He hummed. Wild looked down and shook his head. "I don't want to lose anyone else.." he trailed off.

"C'mon, I'm a Link just like you. We're too stubborn to die," Twilight joked, wiping the tears that kept rolling down the other male's face. The little knight stared at him for a second, but then quickly looked away. Not out of anger or anything, no. He looked away to hide the little smile forming on his lips. "Right..too stubborn.." He repeated. Twilight looked over and smirked. "I see that smile, you know. Don't be embarrassed, it's cu- it's nice. It's good to smile every once in a while," he hummed, trying to play off that accidental slip up. Wild was too oblivious to notice and huffed. "I guess so..it's late..I should-" he then got up, moving into his makeshift shelter and curling up. "Um thank you..Twilight," he murmured. Twilight nodded softly even though the other wasn't watching. He looked down at his now empty arms. For some odd reason, he didn't want the shorter hero to move away. It felt wrong and cold. He sighed, shaking it off as nothing and laying down a few feet away from Wild. He peeked over only to notice him sound asleep already. "I guess crying that much drained him.. goodnight, little hero," He said softly, moving the blanket over Wild and tucking him in.

The next morning, Twilight woke up to find Wild cooking something which he assumed was breakfast. He looked over and smiled softly. "Is that for me?" He teased. Wild huffed and looked away. "No......okay yes, some of it," he grumbled. The Wolf link chuckled and ruffled the younger one's hair. "Oh and um..my name..you can call me Wild.." He muttered. Twilight's eyes widened for a second before a cheesy grin made its way to his face. "Wild. Okay, finally I got your name." He hummed. Twilight didn't understand why that made him so happy. It was just a name, yet he already felt so much closer to him. Why did this excite him so much?

The two heroes were now walking down the dirt path, heading towards the next mission. Death Mountain wasn't too far away, meaning Rudania wasn't too far away. They found themselves wiping away sweat more often as they kept walking towards their destination. "I hate the heat..how close do we need to be..?" Twilight complained. "Well...uh you see..funny story-" Wild began, a sheepish smile on his face. "Oh no..don't tell me-"

"We kinda have to go into the volcano, seeing as that's where Rudania is gonna go-" Wild responded nervously. "What?? Inside the- I'm gonna die..great. That's lava! You know how hot lava is??" Twilight rambled. Wild just looked away, trying not to laugh. "Okay okay..you can stay back if you want..I understand if it's too much for you." He said softly. "No. I promised you I would always be here next to you. So I'm keeping that promise. Even if that means literally melting to death, I'll be here with you." He said with a smile. Wild looked at him with widened eyes before looking away again. "You know..we aren't just going into the Volcano, we're getting the fireproof armor, so we'll be perfectly fine," he hummed casually. Twilight blinked and looked down at him.

"You could've just said that from the beginning! Instead of making me think-" he shouted, as wild stifled a laugh. "Wild? Are you okay?" Twilight questioned, seeing as the other was covering his face. Wild nodded his head rapidly. He finally couldn't contain himself and let out a giggle. The elder of the two's eyes widened. Wild couldn't stop giggling, his attempts were only fruitless seeing as how the laughter kept spilling out. Twilight just stared at him. Listening to the shorter male. Wild finally calmed down and looked away, his face red with embarrassment. "S..sorry..I uh don't really laugh..often..I just-" He muttered. Though the other just kept staring, until finally he spoke. He said the first thing that came to his head.

"I..I love it,"

"Wait..what?" Wild asked, a light red hue on his cheeks still. "I mean um..let's go! Hurry up!" Twilight panicked, going into his wolf form and running down the trail. "I think I just heard it wrong." Wild concluded, shrugging it off as he ran after the beast hero.
