Chapter 8: Ashe and Sarah

Ashe's POV:
I know my avoidance of Sarah must have bothered her, but in order to get what I needed I had too. But today I was going to ease any negative thoughts she may be having. "Love." I said looking at her, as I walked into our bedroom. "What is it Ashe?" Sarah asked her voice cracking a little. I stayed quiet for a bit as I walked close to her. I then took her hand in mine, as I continued to look at her. "If you've had any thoughts of me not loving you, forget them all." I said. "But you've been avoiding me." Sarah said. I knew that would be the reason she was having the thoughts. "There was a reason for it love." I said. "What reason could make sense to make me forget?" Sarah asked as she closed her eyes. This allowed me to go down on one knee, before she opened her eyes. While her eyes were still closed, I took out the small box with the engagement ring in it; and opened it.

Sarah then reopened her eyes to look at me. Once she fully opened them, she let out a small gasp. "Ashe?" Sarah said questioningly. "Sarah, I've loved you for a few years now; and I still do. Before I met you, I never thought I'd ever love again. I had vowed that I'd be single for the rest of my life; and just raise Danny on my own. But the moment I really got to know you, that all changed. So now I ask will you marry me; and become Sarah Corven?" I asked. "Yes. Yes of course Ashe." Sarah said as tears of happiness streamed down her face. I smiled as I stood up; and slid the engagement ring on her finger. I then cupped her face in my hands; and pressed my lips against hers. As our lips moved in sync, I moved my hands down to her waist; and wrapped my arms around her. Once the need for air proved to strong, we pulled away.

I held her close to my chest as I looked at her. I then felt her rest her head against my chest. "I love you love." I said. "I love you too Ashe." Sarah said. I had honestly never been this happy, Since Danny's birth. I soon noticed Sarah was rubbing her eyes. "Is everything alright love?" I asked. "Yea. Just a little tired." Sarah said. "Did you stay up later than usual love?" I asked. Sarah nodded her head as she held onto me. I then picked her up bridal style; and laid her on the bed. "Get some more rest love." I said as I kissed her forehead. "I love you." Sarah said. "I love you too." I said. I smiled as I tucked a strain of hair behind Sarah's ear. As I did this Sarah looked up at me with a smile. "Stay with me until I fall asleep?" Sarah said questioningly. "Of course." I said as I laid beside her under the covers. I wrapped my arm around her waist; and pulled her closer to me. Soon she had fallen asleep.

I then carefully climbed out of the bed; and went to Danny's room. I wanted to check; and see how he was doing, since he caught a cold. I opened the door; and peeked in to see him laying awake. Then I made my way into the bedroom; and over to his bed. "Hey Danny." I said rubbing his head. "Hi dad." Danny said while yawning. "How're you feeling?" I asked. "A little better." Danny said. I smiled as I was happy to know he was feeling a bit better. "I'm still sleepy." Danny said. "Then get some more sleep." I said as I walked towards the bedroom door; and left the room. I then went back to mine; and Sarah's bedroom then laid beside her, as she slept. I thought to myself as I closed my eyes. Soon I began to remember when I got the ring.

*flashback*
I went in a store holding various engagement rings. As I looked around I kept Danny close to me. He seemed to be fascinated by the rings, which made me smile. "Dad?" Danny said questioningly. "What is it?" I asked as I looked down at him. This caused him to look up from the rings; and at me. "Can I help pick out the ring for mom?" Danny asked. "You mean Sarah? And sure of course you can." I said. "No I meant mom. She's my mom now; and I'm happy she is." Danny said making me smile. Soon Danny noticed a engagement ring that was perfect for Sarah. "Dad this one!" Danny said cheerfully. I then bought the ring; and returned home to Sarah, with Danny.
*flashback over*
I smiled as I stared at the ceiling while still laying beside Sarah. Soon I felt Sarah gently rest her head on my chest, but I noticed she was still asleep. I smiled as I watched her for a moment, before closing my eyes; and fell asleep with her in my arms.
