Diluc is no stranger to her. In fact, he'd been by her side for a long time. But just like Kaeya, he pushed her away after his father's death and disappeared for years. She simply took it as a break-up.

Crepus liked having her over, treated her like a daughter, he always told her how he could not wait for a wedding, embarrassing Diluc in the process and giving Kaeya and excuse to tease his brother. But now that he had passed and all fell, nothing of that will ever happen.

Ever since he came back, she has avoided Angel's Share like the plague. She refused commissions that required her to go there or the Dawn Winery and tries to take most requests outside of the city walls.

Today has been an exhausting day, but she pushed herself to do one last request before calling it a day. It's a simple task. Take out a cryo abyss mage which was sighted near Springvale.

But as soon as she stands before the evil creature, her sight becomes blurry, a sharp and cold object pierces into her left side. Everything is spinning and as she loses her balance, the last thing she sees is a red flash, before passing out.

'Is that miss Bella?'

'Shush, she is still asleep. Go and get some fresh bandaid with a damp towel. The poor thing is burning up...'

Bella hears two female voices whisper and as she slowly regains consciousness she blinks a couple of times. Fortunately the room doesn't have a bright light and she is quick to get used to it. However, her whole body feels numb and she can't find the strength to move any part of herself. Her survival instinct kicks in and she starts feeling anxious, her breath becoming unstable.

'Oh dear, oh dear, please calm down. I promise you're in safe hands. It's okay, do you remember me? It's me, Adelinde.' Her icy blue irises look at the headmaiden's concerned face and seeing the familiar face seems to gradually calm her down for a bit. Bella tries to speak, but her throat is dry, her vocal chords not being able to produce a sound.

'Here, drink some water, slowly...' Adelinde gently helps her sit up and holds the cup of water to her lips to help her drink slowly. Once she is done, she still feels a bit dizzy and closes her eyes for a moment to take a deep breathe, calming herself down for a bit.

'How did I get here...?' She asks quietly and the headmaiden smiles as if she is reliving old times.

'Young master Diluc found you. You were attacked by a cryo abyss mage and were injured badly on your waist. We had to bring miss Barbara to treat you. You also suffered from exhaustion and overworking, so you need to rest well.' A sudden meow interrupts them and a fluffy red cat jumps on the bed, sniffing her curiously, before affectionately bumping his head against her hand. He must have snuck in as most cats are either outside or stay in the sheds.

'Oh my, how did you get in!?' Adelinde scolds the cat who could actually care less and Bella carefully moves her fingers upon making contact with the soft fur.

'Hello there old friend...' she mutters and the cat sits down on her lap, bumping his head repeatedly against her for some more affection.

'It's fine, Adelinde...he can keep me company until I'm ready to leave.'

'But Master Diluc-'

'Don't worry. I'm not staying for long...' Adelinde's expression falls as she is reminded that the girl before her is theoretically not associated with the Ragnvindr son anymore. Once she is back on her feet, she will walk out of the door and not return.

'Right...my apologies. Please tell me if you need anything, I will leave you to rest.' Once the door has closed she lets out a deep sign, resting her head back against the pile of pillows behind her. It sucks to feel so weak, but all she can do is rest and hope she will feel fit enough to go back home tomorrow.
