How many days has it been since she's seen anything else but sand and water?

If only Bella had known those bunch of shady scholars were going to dump her in the middle of the caves of the Hypostyle desert. They were out for a project on King Deshret's legacy and the truth behind the many ruins that were once part of Deshret's kingdom. They were simply exploring the cave system with a guide, when the door suddenly closed on her. Absolutely fantastic, isn't it? She heard them say from the small opening between the wall and the door, that they will see her back at the Akademiya. Because after all, she had a vision, she can fend for herself. How pathetic...her vision is just electro. It's meant for combat and nothing more. If it were geo, dendro, anemo or hydro, she might've been able to escape through the hole on the ceiling. But it was just electro. Useless in circumstances like this. She's always despised the scholars of the Akademiya. Arrogant little know-it-alls who have no shame or empathy. There were a few good people like Cyno, Kaveh, Tighnari, Nilou, Dehya, Dunyarzhad...Al-Haitham. She was most familiar with Kaveh and Al-Haitham. Mainly because Kaveh was heavily interested in her nation of origins, Inazuma. He was the first one who introduced himself to her when she moved to Sumeru to aid the adventurers guild, until they had gained enough members to handle the workload.

As she sits there leaning against the cold rocks, body aching from the hits it has taken in an attempt to defend herself, she chuckles at the memories she's made throughout the time she's been living in Sumeru. The sometimes loud, yet entertaining bicking between the two roommates, The TCG games with Cyno and Tighnari, Nilou's performances, sparring sessions with Dehya...will she be able to hold on long enough to be able to see another day and get another chance to make such memories? What lies did those scholars tell the higher ups? Would anyone miss her? Surely not...otherwise they would've found her by now, wouldn't they? She's all beat up, cuts and bruises all over her body, barely anything but skin wrapped around bones, sand everywhere and completely drained.

The thought has crossed her mind several times. Every time she looks down at her weapons she considers just doing it to stop the suffering and be at peace. What's the point in trying to survive when no one will come for her anyway?

A painful sting surges through her left leg and she shuts her eyes with a hiss, tensing up her body as she waits for the pain to sink. But it doesn't. Instead, she starts to feel dizzy and disoriented, she feels nauseous and it becomes hard to breath. She can't move or even lift a finger and when she opens her eyes, she can only see black dots. Is this how she dies?

Accepting her fate, she closes her eyes and allows herself to fall into the darkness. For a moment, the ground underneath her shakes, before she is engulfed in stillness and tranquility.

May we meet again in another life.

"How long has it been?"

"Three days. Are you even her friend to not keep track?"

"Wha- don't forget who introduced you two to each other! If it weren't for me, you would've never felt anything like love. You'd still be as boring as a rock."

"Stop yelling, we're at a hospital. And aren't you suppose to be working to pay your share of the rent?"

"Says the Scribe himself. Aren't you suppose to be in a meeting?"

"I've had someone else do the task for me. It won't hurt my paycheck to take some days off. Yours on the other hand..."

"Ugh...fine...just tell me when she wakes up." The door shuts and Al-Haitham glances over at the sleeping girl, still giving no signs of consciousness. It doesn't show on him, but he is worried, despite being confirmed that she would recover. He insisted on coming with Cyno who had interrogated the scholars who had last seen her. They lied to save their graduation and had kept up the lie until it started to feel wrong for those who knew her. The more they started asking if anyone heard something from her, the more suspicious Al-Haitham became as he knew that she had told them she wasn't too keen on the desert. He eventually asked Cyno to start an investigation. Cyno sought them out to take them aside and question them on their lie. They tried to insist that she stayed behind by choice, but their fear of the General Mahamatra made them confess anyway. They will stand trial by the end of the week for attempted murder. Execution won't happen, but the chances of them being expelled from the Akademiya are big. On top of that they will have to pay for the hospital bills, and by the looks of it, the costs will be high. It is thanks to Cyno that she will receive justice for what the scholars have put her through.
