The Akademiya prides itself in having the smartest of the smartest. Researchers constantly analyzing and experimenting, students diligently following classes and writing papers, the library always filled with researchers and students from the Akademiya and sometimes young researchers set out to travel to other regions to learn more about the subjects they want to study.
It all sounds like every single person there is very well-behaved and follows the rules as they should.
Al-Haitham isn't exactly one of them.
He is smart, strong and skilled. He knows that very well. He doesn't directly overstep boundaries, but he also doesn't always follow them the way they should. He is clever enough to find loopholes without staining the reputation of the Akademiya. Being one of the few people who is closest to Lesser Lord Kusunali, he is either out and about or locked up in his study, unraveling the mysteries of ancient ruins and their meanings.
Now his roommate isn't exactly the worse person...but he would not hesitate to swap him out if it meant getting a roommate who respects his rules. He knows he is stubborn and a tad bit selfish for putting his own rules first instead of compromising, but he could really use the peace and quiet when he is studying.
Today was no exception, for his roommate had the brilliant idea of bringing his client over to discuss the plans for a house.
He knows it's a woman as her voice is higher, Kaveh having a naturally louder voice is the actual problem. He can hear him through the walls of their home!
When the woman speaks, it's more pleasant, her voice is softer and he can only hear some incoherent mumbling, but when Kaveh speaks it's like some merchant on the market is advertising his products.
He eventually has enough and puts down his pen to step out of his study and give that roommate of his a scolding. Once he has reached the living room, Kaveh is already rolling his eyes at him, getting ready to hear it from the white haired man.
"I have a client y'know."
"Doesn't matter, I need you to keep your voice down some more, I can hear you from two rooms away."
"She's an important Inazuman client! I need to leave a good impression and all the other studies at the Akademiya were taken!"
"You can do that, without sounding like a market merchant."
"Just go back to your study."
"Am I interrupting something?" The voice stops the two from bickering and make them turn their heads towards the young female who is giving them an amused look.
"So...you're the roommate I presume?"
"And you're the important Inazuman client?"
"Important? Not at all, I'm a mere martial artist and ex-detective."
"You do realize Sumeru is primarily made up of scholars and those who desire to seek for answer about what's unknown to them, right?"
"Psychology, sociology and criminology are also part of the Akademiya's many subjects in the lecture halls, right?"
"The criminology department doesn't have that many students, most people are more interested in environmental and historical research rather than human focused studies." Al-Haitham shakes his head. Even though he is specialized in ancient ruins, he does enjoy studying vision holders and human behavior once in a while.
"That's precisely why the Akademiya has asked me to hold lectures. They want to attract more people for the said studies." The scribe researcher would be lying if he said the Akademiya didn't make a good choice regarding attraction points. This woman is in fact, absolutely stunning for the eye and her voice is very gentle, yet it has a certain stern undertone.
