“Um, Aimée, can I talk to you with a pissed off voice accusingly in the corner over there?” Nolan asked. I raised my eyebrow at him, but I could tell he was dead serious.

“Yeah, sure, whatever.” We walked silently to the far corner away from the door. Then suddenly he whirled around to face me.

“What do you think you’re doing? I don’t know how much you know about interrogating someone, but judging by your little statement, I’m guessing not much.” He spat.

“Sorry, mother,” I replied sarcastically. “I didn’t know you were the expert on everything, and especially cross-examining people. Next time I decide to think for myself, I’ll ask for your permission.”

“I mean really! ‘I believe him’? How stupid can you get!”

“What,” I said with angry tears in my eyes, “I’m not allowed to have gut feelings? I not allowed to just know something? That man honestly doesn’t understand what’s going on! And I seriously doubt he was in control of himself when he did that.”

“If the universe relied on gut feelings, life would be a whole lot shittier. You are totally and completely wrong.”

“What is wrong with you? If the world relied on instinct, there would be a whole lot more right with the world! Over-analyzing everything is the reason a lot of people are in a hell-hole! Why can’t you just accept the fact that you don’t know everything sometimes?!” I was practically yelling by now. And I just knew my face was red with anger.

“Who said I thought I knew everything? You’re just making crap up! Just like you did with the whole ‘oh, I belieeeve him’ thing! You’re full of it!”

“Oh, you totally think you know everything there is to know in the entire universe and beyond! You think you’re the ‘cock of the walk’! And what is with your attitude? One minute you’re a pleasant person, the next you’re a total douche!” The tears were definitely rolling down my face now. I could taste them.

“Well, at least your father wasn’t killed by the regime represented by a certain bitch on this ship!” He screamed.

Silence.

“What?” I asked, my voice a whisper. I sniffled. “What are you talking about? I don’t know anything. Why are you mad at me for something I haven’t even done?” I continued.

“Don’t give me that! You knew the whole time!” He said, but less sure of himself this time.

“Do you seriously believe that? I mean really, I thought I was just another human with a calculator and science textbook shoved in her brain. Then I get abducted by none other than you, and now you’re accusing me of something that happened somewhere I didn’t even know existed a few weeks ago! You’re blinded by hate, fear, and sadness!” I whispered. More tears.

“You don’t tell me how I feel! Just, don’t even talk to me! I’ve had enough of your innocent act!” He said, his voice getting louder towards the end.

“I’m not acting! Why don’t you believe me, and why are you accusing me of something in which I had no part?” I stormed off, turned to Nathan and said “My previous comment still stands. These men are innocent.” And walked to my room. I’d had enough of men for that day.
