The team had just solved a new case. The third since Shreya’s arrest and incarceration. Although he didn't really have the head of it, Daya had still taken part in the investigations. But in the evening, when everyone got home, he went to Shreya and continued his research. Despite Abhijeet's insistence that he think of something else, he couldn't. He couldn't stand knowing Shreya was in jail. He had to get her out of there.

For over two weeks he had been working on the letters and calls Shreya had received from Karan Bohra. He had tried to understand the message hidden behind each word without succeeding. He wanted to understand what the man wanted from her. Sending her to jail was certainly not his end goal, he had to have something else in mind. But what? Knowing the criminal and his past with Shreya, he suspected that it must be something much more important.

He had watched the video showing Shreya killing Vikram countless times, never finding anything. No editing, as Akash had already told him. It was indeed Shreya. But Daya couldn't believe it. It couldn't be Shreya, she wasn't capable of such a thing. For him, it was not about Shreya but about someone who looked like her. It was certainly a double. Daya was sure Bohra had hired a woman to pose as Shreya. It could only be that.

The idea had been working on him for several days now, but he hadn't told anyone about it. Who could it be of interest anyway? No one seemed to care about Shreya's future. He had considered letting Abhijeet know since he was his friend and only he could intervene if what he had found was true. But he hesitated. Until now, he hadn't been of much help. He had even seemed quite distant for the past two weeks, as if he had something more on his mind besides work, than Shreya.

Today, Daya had decided to confront the man. He had to make him understand that he shouldn't give up, that he couldn't give up. So he went to Abhijeet’s office just before leaving the building. Everyone had already left, there was only them. It would therefore be easier for them to speak without being interrupted. But as he approached the office, he saw Abhijeet in the middle of a phone conversation. He stopped behind the door and listened to what he was saying to himself.

- "It's been over two weeks, soon to be three," Abhijeet said, a hint of anger in his voice. "I couldn't bear to know her there any longer. You have to find this woman."

There was a pause. Abhijeet listened to his interlocutor.

- "I want to talk to her ASAP and get Shreya out of jail. She's been there way too long. So hurry up."

Daya couldn't believe it. All this time, Abhijeet had been working to get Shreya out of jail. In all this time, he hadn't said anything to him. But why? If he had told him about it before, they could have worked together and thus free Shreya much faster. Daya wanted to come into the office and let him know what he thought about it. Anger rose in him when he opened the door.

Abhijeet looked up when he heard Daya enter and froze when he met his gaze. He had heard it all. The ACP hated himself for keeping it a secret all this time, even forcing Daya to give up his research. He knew what it meant to the consultant and it had hurt to see him so lost the past few weeks. The little spark had left his gaze the instant the verdict had fallen and he would only find it when Shreya got out of prison. This is what Abhijeet had been doing. He had done everything to help his officer, to prove her innocence. He had never doubted it. After the confirmation of Bohra's involvement in this whole story, by sources unknown to his other officers of course.

Many years before joining the CID he had been part of a special unit for which he led specific missions. It was not in his file, nor in any file of his teammates at the time. He had never seen them again after leaving the unit and was not planning to do so. It was a part of his life he had preferred to forget. But when his officer needed help, he decided to break his promise. He had contacted one of these men, explained the situation to him and had obtained his help.
