Chapter 8

As soon as Ruby Jane walked out, Mr. Lee quickly went to Kai. "Chairman, are you alright?" He asked worriedly. "No, but I already told her that I wanted a divorce," Kai said in relief. "What?! Just think of those five years that you've endured. Are you prepared to give up so many properties and hotels?" Mr. Lee asked in distress. Suddenly, Kai's stomach made a noise. "For madam's character to say that she forgives you even after hearing those words, you are really lucky," Mr. Lee added.

Kai can't concentrate on what Mr. Lee was saying because his stomach was aching. "I can't take it anymore," Kai said as he stood up and went to the toilet.

But then Mr. Lee stopped him. "Chairman, please bear with it," he said pulling Kai to sit down. "No, I really can't," Kai answered as his stomach was growling non-stop.  "Let go!" He added and ran away. "Chairman, please bear with it!" Mr. Lee called out.

It's almost early evening when Lisa decided to go back to the sea to get her tools that Ruby Jane threw in the sea. She had a snorkeling set and swimming fins with her.

"Lisa Manoban! Bear with it. It's dangerous!" Jisoo said blocking Lisa in going to the sea. "Do you know how much those costs?! I must get them back even if I can only manage to find only one," Lisa said upset.

"The sun has already set and the waters are deep," Jisoo said as she tried to stop Lisa from going to the water. "If I still don't come up after 1 minute, just call 911," Lisa told her.

"Lis, you need to think of your young nieces! What are they going to do if anything happens to you?" Jisoo pleaded. "For their sake, I have to get those tools back! Do you know how much money they are worth?!" Lisa angrily asked.

"Lis, please bear with it," Jisoo holding her from behind. "Let go!" Lisa insisted.

"No, you can't," Jisoo said crying.

"Lisa?" Suddenly someone called her.

"Oh Somi," Lisa said surprised seeing her. Somi smiled at her.

They sat at the dike and talked. "Lisa, you are still the same," Somi complemented. "Are your nieces well? The youngest Mina should be going to grade school already," she added. "Yes," Lisa shortly replied while smiling at her. "But, why are you here?" Lisa added.

"I came home because I have some things to settle. I'm going to America next month," Somi answered. "I already heard that...you are getting married, right?" Lisa sadly asked.

"Yes, my fiancé is in America studying to become a professor," Somi stated. "Professor? Congratulations," Lisa said and smiled a bit.

"We will meet more often before I leave, right? Give me your phone, so I can key in my number," Somi said. Lisa quickly got her phone and found out that it's wet. "Really, that woman is really..." Lisa murmured as she tried to fix her phone.

"Woman?" Somi asked curiously. "Oh nothing. The phone is dead," Lisa said stuttering.

Somi just smiled at her. "Give me your hand," Somi said and wrote her number in Lisa's palm. "I have bought a few story books for your nieces. You have to call me for sure, okay?" Somi stated. "Okay," Lisa said smiling while looking at Somi's phone number in her palm.

It's already evening when Lisa and Jisoo where walking home. "Lisa, if your brother and his wife hadn't died, if you didn't have to raise their kids, would you and Somi still be together? Speaking of the truth, didn't Somi like you before? She only changed after the accident of your brother," Jisoo stated. "Don't talk nonsense and go home. Go out with me earlier in the morning," Lisa said.

"Why?" Jisoo asked. "I have  to get my tools from the sea," Lisa answered and went inside their house leaving Jisoo outside.

"Somi really made her so frustrated. Why must she be holding someone else's hand when she's going to get married?" Jisoo said and sighed.

"I'm here," Lisa announced as she walked inside a very messy house. "Aunt Lisa!" Dahyun greeted. "Did you already eat?" Lisa asked. "We already eat some ramen," Dahyun answered. "I'll get someone to clean the house soon. So just bear with it for a little more," she assured them.

Lisa saw that Mina and Sana were already asleep in the couch so she carried them in their own room.

She was smiling as she watched her nieces slept soundly.She then looked at the picture of her brother and his wife in the side table.

Lisa looked at the number that Somi wrote in her palm. She erased it by rubbing it off with her other hand and her saliva.

Ruby Jane was drinking some wine and was already tipsy. She was alone at the front area of her yacht, contemplating from the things that happened that day. "You are suffering because of me? You find life is so tiring?" She bitterly asked. She then realized something. "So, what do you want me to do?! You're saying it now after you spent my money, living and eating well?" She mockingly said.

Ruby Jane looked at her wedding ring. "I also promised to marry after he proposed using only a ring," she told the ring. "What?! Divorce?!" She said as she angrily pulled the ring and threw it in the floor.

"Go away!!" Ruby Jane told the ring which rolled away in the edge. Her phone suddenly rang and she checked the caller. "Why must you rebel against me when it doesn't take you an hour to compromise? Rebel!!" She yelled at the phone without answering it.

The phone kept on ringing. "You are so noisy!!" Ruby Jane said and threw the phone in the sea.

"My whole life is finished," Kai sadly said after getting out of the comfort room. "Didn't Madam said that she would forgive you this time?" Mr. Lee asked.

"Yes, but I have hoped for a chance to live again when I couldn't bear it anymore. I hoped to be able to leave Ruby Jane and get my life back. But Ruby Jane said that she will not let go of me even if she dies," Kai said teary-eyed. "Even if it's like this, you have already said what you wanted?" Mr. Lee asked.

"How much longer will she be torturing me basing on this incident?" Kai said feeling down.

The wine bottle was already empty and Ruby Jane was drank. She saw her wedding ring in the floor. "You, what are you doing there? Aren't you coming over? You want me to leave, right? I'm going to get you if you are not coming over! Just stay still and don't move." Ruby Jane told the ring. She walked slowly, swaying her body and staggering her feet, to get the ring. The ring rolled to the opposite direction due to the boat's movement. "What? You still want to rebel right?" She asked the ring.

She was about to finally get it when a big wave hit the boat causing her to outbalance and tossing her body almost out of the boat. Thankfully she was able to hold unto the boat's railings.

Ruby Jane was hanging outside the boat, holding the yacht's railings. She can't hold her weight anymore and fell to the sea.
