The writhing body of a small, helpless first year boy rolled around at Lucy's feet. Amycus Carrow turned out to be even crueler than his troll-like sister when it came to punishment. He was a skinny, shorter man but what he lacked in size he made up in temper. He thrived off the power that he could feel from hurting people.

Detention proved to be one of Amycus' favorite activities. It was a valid excuse for him to exercise his excessive authority on the helpless. October had arrived, yet the detentions stayed the same. Each night, at least thirty students would gather for his torturous experiments.

Lucy's eyes welled with tears as she watched an innocent child shake with agony and utter pain. A Ravenclaw boy named Terry Boot lowered his wand. He was sobbing as he knelt down to check if the boy was okay, offering an endless string of apologies.

"That's enough for now," barked Amycus with a sinister smile on his face. "Who's next?"

Theo stood beside Lucy, and their fingers brushed for a moment as if to reassure one another it would be alright.

"You there, Nott," demanded Amycus, eyes narrowing. "Come forward,"

Theo turned to look at Lucy, his emerald eyes full of sorrow.

"Please don't think I would ever do something like this willingly," he softly insisted before stepping forward with his wand in hand. His face became a mask of coldness as all emotion vanished from his features.

Amycus roughly grabbed the shoulder of a Hufflepuff first year girl with pigtails and shoved her to the stone ground of the Great Hall. The girl began to cry, her eyes pleading for help. Theo hesitated as he stared at the child before him.

"Go on, boy," he growled as Theo stared at the little blonde girl with wide, fearful eyes. "Or I'll tell the Dark Lord how you have a soft spot for Mudbloods,"

Theo raised a shaky hand before just barely murmuring the incantation. "Crucio,"

Lucy closed her eyes as the wailing screams of the Hufflepuff rang out. It was all too painful to hear, yet Lucy knew the consequences if they refused.

Of course Amycus did not start the detentions this severely. The first week, they had to write lines with quills left behind from Professor Umbridge. Lucy now had a permanent scar etched into her hand reminding her about how filthy Muggleborns are.

The second week he resorted to pouring an acid potion on the floor and having them clean it up. The green liquid quickly dissolved the towels, and then their skin. Lucy still had burns on her hands and knees to remember that.

From there, they simply watched him torture students, until Longbottom had the guts to speak up against it. Amycus threatened to chain him up and torture him, yet the boy disappeared before he had the chance.

Now, it was routine that students would practice the Unforgivable Curses on Muggleborn and first year students, or would have to endure the torture themselves.
