Lucy seemed to be the only one who was actually excited for Double Potions the next morning. She couldn't help but what new potions the new Potions master would have them prepare. Theo, always the gentleman, held the door open for the group of Slytherins as they squished inside the dingy classroom.

"Oh for fuck's sake," muttered Draco as they entered to see Potter and his friends. Lucy could feel the irritation emanating off of him, and empathized with the blonde. Hermione Granger always received top marks in their classes, but so did Lucy. Ever since first year, a bit of a rivalry existed between the two girls.

The dark classroom was unusually full of vapors and many different odd odors. There were various bubbling cauldrons placed on a long table that Professor Slughorn stood behind. He was an odd-looking man with a rather large belly and a funny mustache.

"Now then, I have prepared a few potions for you lot to have a look at," Slughorn told the class as the small silver buttons on his robes looked about ready to quite literally burst at the seams.

"Can anyone tell me what this first potion is right here?"

Lucy stood on her tiptoes and glanced inside the cauldron. It was a clear liquid and looked like it was just boiling water. With no surprise, Hermione's hand shot into the air, and Slughorn pointed to her.

"It's Veritaserum, a colorless, odorless potion that forces drinkers to tell the truth," she recalled, similarly to a walking thesaurus.

"And this one?"

Lucy looked in the next cauldron to see a funny mud-like substance that bubbled like lava. A disgusting odor emanated from it making her nose scrunch up. Gross.

"It's Polyjuice Potion sir," Hermione answered yet again. Lucy held back another wave of irritation.

"Ahh, but what about this one here?" Slughorn questioned.

"Amortentia," blurted out Lucy without a second thought. Despite the fact she had finally answered, she hated all the different eyes on her now. Embarrassed, her cheeks flushed pink as Slughorn glanced at the small Slytherin girl.

"That's correct Miss—?"

"Armstrong, sir," she replied quietly, desperate to get the attention off of her.

"Miss Armstrong is correct, this is the most powerful love potion in the world!" he informed the class. "It is rumored to smell differently to each person. What is it you smell, my dear?"

Lucy shuffled slightly forward and gazed into the swirling potion. It was the color of liquid pearls, with spirals of steam coming off it. Amortentia was a seductive potion, and it drew her in slowly with the most intoxicating of scents.
