I pulled my hood over my head and hoisted my backpack onto my shoulder. I didn't want to be noticed today. Isaac had most probably told the whole lot of the friend group about me running away last night and they'd be on the look for me. And Sheriff Stilinksi was probably still looking and told Stiles.
I expected people to ignore me as always when I walked past but a lot of them turned and pointed. Some of them were laughing, others sent me apologetic looks. I frowned but kept my head down walking through the students till I saw her again. Laughing with her friends. She saw me and her eyes sparkled.
"Theodore Raeken." She taunted walking towards me with her minions behind her.
"Hayden." I said smiling sarcastically. "Is that a new perfume? I wondered who was stinking up the corridors!" She scowled at me.
"Look everyone!" She shouted down the hallway and everyone turned to look at me again. "It's the homeless freak." My heart dropped and everything seemed to blur around me. I stumbled backwards from her as she shrieked with laughter.
Then I saw him. He was just behind her looking at me. I burned with rage and hurt. I marched forward pushing Hayden out of the way so she went flying into a locker, my fist clenched as I punched Liam directly in the nose. Everyone stopped laughing as Liams nose bled all over the floor. He looked up at me seeing the tears stinging my face as they rolled down my cheeks.
"Theo I-"
"You prick." I said through gritted teeth. I felt hands on my shoulders and arms and I turned to see Scott, Isaac and Allison. I tried to get them off me but their grip stayed tight.
"Get off me!" I finally got free and they stayed back as I bent down to Liams level where his nose was just starting to heal.
"Game on Dunbar." I spat before punching him again. Allison, Scott and Isaac grabbed me again to stop me inflicting more damage and pulled me into the locker room.
"Theo calm down." Isaac said as I punched one of the lockers so the door bent in half.
"Calm down? Calm down huh? Oh I'm so calm." I punched another locker. "So calm." The temptation to pull the blade out of my pocket again was too strong and I did it bringing it to my wrist.
"Theo no!" Scott said grabbing my hand and ripping it out of my grip.
"You wanna know who the guy was Scott? You really wanna know?" I said laughing.
"Theo..."
"Liam fucking Dunbar." I said his name feeling like bleach on my tongue.
"Theo you have to be better than him." Scott said still having a strong grip on my wrists.
"You have to calm down." The locker room door opened and Liam walked in. I lunged for him but Scott held me back his alpha strength overpowering mine.
"Liam get out!" Allison shouted.
"No. No I'm not afraid of him!" He said taking a step towards me.
"You should be Dunbar. You don't wanna see me mad."
"But I have. Remember?" I stopped trying to struggle against Scott.
"You got pissed at the guy at the fair for not giving me a prize." He said chuckling.
"You won. It was only fair." I said shrugging.
"No matter how many times I told you it was fine you still protested until I got the prize. I still have it you know."
"Yeah well it was pretty expensive. I paid $10 for that game."
"I remember." I hadn't even registered that Scott had let go of me and that Liam had got closer.
"I didn't tell her Theo." He whispered and I shook my head. Liam placed a hand on my cheek which surprised me.
"I didn't tell her." It was hard not to fall into his trap but I pulled away.
"I'm not doing this with you again Liam." I said it taking every little bit of strength I had.
"What?"
"I'm not doing this again. I-I can't."
"Theo..." Liam went to touch me again but I moved away.
"I'm not having a secret relationship with you again. You either tell everyone what's going on or I go. It's your choice."
Something seemed to snap in Liams head and he grabbed my wrist pulling me out the locker room and back into the hall crowded with students. Everyone turned our way as Hayden marched over.
"You little-" she pointed her finger in my face but Liam cut her off.
"Hayden we're done." He said and I turned to him shocked.
"W-what? But Liam..."
"No. You're a horrible person and I never really liked you in the first place." I looked down trying to hide the smile on my face.
"And guess what?" Liam shouted. "I like guys!" He tilted my chin up and smashed his lips to mine. Warmth spread throughout my body as Liams lips fitted with mine. He pulled away.
"More accurately I like Theo Raeken." He said and I smiled at him. There were a few faces of disgust that I know lots of people noticed and would deal with later. Beacon hills was not a place known for homophobia. But most faces were of surprise or there were comforting smiles. Hayden stood there with her mouth open.
"You're gay?" She said dumbfounded.
"Bi. I like the best of both worlds." He said. Hayden pulled a face.
"So you're breaking up with me for him?"
"Oh hunny we were together before you even came into the picture." I said and Liam laughed. Hayden's mouth fell open again as we walked off through the crowd of people. All of them smiled at us, some congratulated us and some, again pulled faces but I didn't care.
I was happy right now and I wanted to savour the moment before it ended.
