"You might want to sit down, your bodies still healing." Deaton started. I ignored him, pushing off the table and making a stumbling grab for my bloodied clothes, bundled in the corner where they'd been dropped when I was brought into the clinic. The top was ruined, shredded from Deaton cutting me out of it. The jeans were salvageable. If I was okay with one side being cut from ankle to thigh. I was. I yanked them on, my strength already building.
"Mason. I need your hoodie." I said. Mason didn't need telling twice shrugging out of his hooding and tossing it to me.
"I'm coming with you." Mason said, I shrugged the hoodie on with a sigh.
"Mason-"
"They've been gone for ages. You might need me as a back up." Mason said.
"You can keep the car running."
"Sounds good." Mason said easily making me snort a laugh, of course Mason would be happy to be the get away driver. I started moving for the door. Legs still weak making me feel oddly like Bambi when he was first born. Mason was there in a second, hooking my arm over his shoulders. "Maybe I should drive us there too." He suggested.
"Good idea." I hummed letting mason shuffle us out of the room. The waddle out of the clinic wasn't exactly graceful, or easy but I could feel my strength coming back with each step. By the time we drove to the fight, I'd be more than ready. The sun was peeking over the tops of the buildings, the rising sun coating everything in a reddish hue. I nodded towards my car.
"So what's the plan when we get there?" Mason asked. "Go in fangs blazing?"
"I'd hope my fangs wouldn't be on fire. Might make it difficult." I said.
"Seriously Theo you just-" Mason started. My head span as I heard the squeal of multiple pairs of tires. My eyes found the stupid old beat up jeep first as it rattled down the road towards them a few cars following behind. "Is that them?"
"Who else do you know who has a jeep that crappy?"
"I mean is it all of them?" Mason asked. I didn't bother answering. The jeep skidded to a stop parked diagonally across three parking spots followed by the other cars. Doors were thrown open. The group hopping out.
First we're all the girls, stumbling as they hit the floor. Malia's hands stained with blood, Lydia looking tired, as much like Allison and Kira. Then Scott, Stiles and Derek. And-
"Corey!" Mason said, voice a relieved breath as he ducked out beneath my arm leaving me fighting to keep my balance as Mason ran to greet Corey, who I assumed was his boyfriend now. Liam was unsurprisingly last out. His eyes trained solely on me his mouth gaping. I was still as Liam took stumbling steps forward. His skin was splattered with blood and his cheeks pale and tear stained.
"You.. mason said you were dead." Liam said, voice a throaty whisper. "You...how?"
"Mason lied." I said bluntly. "I told him to."
"You-"
"Technically. You did die for a minute." Mason said 'helpfully'. Liams head snapped between me and mason, eyes wide and watery.
"I don't understand."
"Nothing new there then." I drawled. Liams eyes finally stopped on me, his heart a confusing stuttering mess in his chest, his scent rolling off, smelling wrong from the flare of too many emotions. "I'm fine." He said gently. "I told you I'd be awake when you got back didn't I?" I reached out grubbing Liams hand. "I'm okay."
"You we're dead." Liam croaked.
"It's not like it's the first time that's happened to me." I said with a lopsided smirk that had Liams heart skipping in his chest. "We should go insi-" I let out a startled wheeze as Liam slapped my hand away from his own and yanked me into a bruising kiss, fingers clawing at my hair and neck. I returned the kiss easily, hands curling softly around Liams waist. I was pretty sure I was smearing blood across our lips like lipstick but couldn't bring myself to care my heart fluttering in my chest, my fingers digging harder into Liams sides as I deepened the kiss, stomach tightening as I realised I almost never got to do this again.
"So I guess none of you care what happened with the hunters then?" Melissa asked loudly. Only then was I aware of her presence.
Me and Liam ignored her wrapped around each other. Me in a borrowed hoodie with a mouth smeared full of blood and jeans ripped in a way that could never be considered fashionable. Liam's fingers spreading blood over every inch they touched. I almost lost myself in the kiss, death experience be dammed.
"I seem to remember you saying your first kiss when you got back wouldn't be in front of me." Deaton said dryly. Voice barely a whisper to the two of us.
