we ate and talked and we had fun, Scarlett and Mrs.Steinfeld talked about housework and raiding kids, Hailee was talking to C. J about music and Rose and Griffin were talking about horses and carriages, Mr. Steinfeld looked at me and leaned over.

" Is there a place where you and I can talk?" He asked and I nodded " my office Sir"

" Wonderful, may we?"

We excused ourselves and I lead him to my office and I closed the door, we sat down by the fire since it was starting to get cold and I poured ourselves a drink before I sat across from the man, that hopefully was going to be my future father in law.

" I want to thank you Y/N, for being so welcoming to me and my family, People of your social status hardly act kindly towards people like me"

" To me, every human is equal, and I try my best to treat everyone as kindly as I want to be treated"

He nodded and took a deep breath " you want to Wed my daughter"

" I do, Sir"

" May I ask why? We have nothing to offer you, I have no dowry or property or objects of worth to give you, you are a young, successful and powerful woman, you have a certain beauty, I doubt it's hard for you to find someone like you to marry you"

I took a sip of my whiskey " it is not Sir, I know that people would like to wed me, but they would be doing that for my money, your daughter, she doesn't care about how much money I have, she just cares about happiness and love, and I admire that, I came to care a lot for Hailee, and I believe that she cares for me and that someday, she might even love me"

" I want to build a future with your daughter, take care of her and give her everything I have to give, I know it's not conventional for a woman to marry another woman, and I know that many may not like it, but I do not care, all I care is to love and to be loved "

He nodded and smiled " your intentions sound genuine and by the way you and your friend treated me and my family, and for the way I saw you treat your governor I can tell you are a good person, but my daughter is her person, I can't promise you that she will accept your marriage proposal, I can't force her to wed someone"

I nodded " I know sir, I'm not asking you to make her marry me, that's not the case, I still want to make things right and get to know your daughter before I ask her to marry me, I just, I want you to know where my intentions lay, I'm not here to take advantage of your daughter time and kindness, I want to be with her, and I want your blessing for me to see her"

He smiled and nodded and patted my back.
" You have my blessing, and if you do propose and she accepts, I will be more than happy to have you be a part of my family because I can see it in your eyes that you truly care for my daughter, and that's all a father can ever ask for"

I thanked him and we left the office, we were about to go to the dining room again when I heard someone knock on my door.

I went to open it and a drunken well-dressed man looked at me.

" THE GREAT Y/N KINSALE! Do you think you are better than me? Huh? You think that just because you have money you can go and do whatever you fucking want freak?" He asked and walked inside the house I grabbed him by the jacket.

" Look, I do not know who you are, but you should leave, now, "

" You don't fucking know who I am? I'm ROBERT ARNETT! You brought my property, you stole my job, and I'm pretty sure you are fucking my wife, you sick disgusting Lesbian" he said and tried to punch me but I dodged it and took him outside since I didn't want to cause a scene in front of Hailee and her parents.

" Look, Robert, I'm just trying to help out here,"

" I DONT NEED YOUR HELP! IT'S ALL UNDER CONTROL! YOU THINK THAT WHAT? YOU CAN BUY EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE?! HUH? DID YOU PAY MY WIFE TO TOUCH HER? " He said and pushed me.

I took a deep breath " you are drunk, and you are causing a scene, come to my house tomorrow and we can talk, when you are sober"

I started to walk away and he grabbed me again " You disgusting sinful sapphic, you have to stay out of our lives"

He tried to hit me again and I lost my patience and I punched him making him pass out immediately, I took him to the front off of his house and knocked on the door before I walked away back to my own house.

Hailee rushed to me and touched my cheek " are you okay? Who was that guy?"

I nodded and kissed the top of her head.
" It was a drunken idiot, whose house I brought trying to help out"

" He attacked you, are you hurt?" Griffin said concerned.

" I'm okay, it's all okay"

" Will you report him? Should we call the sheriff?"

I shook my head " no, it's okay, I will deal with all of that tomorrow, let's just go back to dinner and eat dessert shall we?"

They all nodded and went back to the dining room and Scarlett went over to me. " What was that about?"

" Robert told me to stay out of his business"

" What will you do?"

" As he asked, from tomorrow morning, I'm done helping him and Elizabeth, I'm going to the bank and I'm taking all my money back..."
