"I got enemies, got a lot of enemies, got a lot of people tryna' drain me of this energy," - Drake

--

I sat there, in shock of all the information James just told me.

"I'll be back," I said to him, feeling a little tipsy.

It can't be true.

I stood up from my chair and went to the garage door that leads into the house.

"Daddy!" I yelled, and he immediately replied.

"Yes?" He said curtly, but once he saw my facial expression, he instantly dropped what he was doing, took off his glasses, and rushed over to me.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

Once I told him everything James to me, he was just as pale as I was.

"R-Ross is alive?" He asked, his eyes brimming with tears. Not once have I ever seen my father cry, in all of my 17 years of existence.

But knowing that Ross is alive, that my brother is alive, brought me to tears too.

Soon, my father and I were embracing each other and crying, our chests heaving up and down from the ragged breaths we were taking in.

"What's going on over here?" Jaxon asked.

"M-M-My b-brother I-I-Is a-alive," I said before breaking down into tears again.

But my father had stopped crying, he wiped his eyes and turned his head away from Jaxon, not wanting him to see him cry.

"You mean the one that disappeared all those years ago?" Jaxon asked.

I nodded my head and wiped my eyes with the sleeve of my shirt.

I could see Jaxon's eyes shine with excitement.

Soon, he was running around the house, shouting to everybody that my brother was alive.

Why he was so excited? I really don't know, but I was just as, if not, more excited than him.

"So, your brother is alive, huh?" Alex asked me as we were seated at the dinner table, ready to be served.

"Yes," I said, smiling a full teeth smile.

Alex nodded his head, and then went into deep thought.

"Are you okay?" I asked him, but he didn't respond.

"Alex?" I said.

No response.

"Alex!" I said with a bit more firmness in my voice.

He jumped slightly and turned his neck to face me, "Yes? Sorry I spaced out,"

"No problem," I said, "I was just asking if you were okay,"

"I'm fine, I'm fine," he said while shaking his head, trying to clear his thought.

The first time he said, 'I'm fine,' it seemed he was saying it to me.

But the second time, it appeared as if he was trying to convince himself.

What was up with him?

************

"So, tell us what James told you. We need to know everything for this mission," Mr. Pillar said when everybody was scattered around the dining room.

"He told me that 7 years ago, Ross was abducted. But, not in the way we think. He got abducted because he was a test subject, people had been observing him, following him, learning his schedule so that they could find the right time, to take him," I explained.

"So where is he now?" Jaxon asked.

"Well, James told me that-"

"Wait, your trusting what James is telling you?" Hanna scoffed, "your even more stupid than I thought.

"As opposed to what?" I said, becoming pissed off, "Trusting what you tell me? Do you have any better ideas other than standing around and objecting to everything?"

"If you don't have anything useful to say, then shut your goddamned trap," I hissed.

"Anyways," I started again, "James told me that Ross has been laying low for the past 7 years because he was afraid that by contacting us, Theodore would figure out where we were. My father, my mother, and I used to move around a lot, never staying in one place. Ross always knew where we were, always keeping tabs on us. Just to protective to do anything,"

"He seems like a coward to me. He didn't speak to you for 7 years because he was afraid that by contacting you, Theodore would find you and do whatever with you," Hanna started, "but look around, Raelyn. Theodore has already found you, already put that stupid RED in you. Then you escaped and here we are. He's just going to keep coming back until he get you, and when he does, it ain't gonna be pretty." Hanna suddenly jumped up from her spot and stomped her way up to her room.

Everyone sighed audibly.

"She is a piece of work," Mr. Pillar said.

"She may be a piece of work, but she is your daughter," Jessie said while leaving the room.

Soon everybody was out of the room and it was just Alex and I.

"So..." Alex said.

I glared at him with furrowed brows and scowled.

"What did I do?" He asked.

"Nothing, I'm just in a shit mood,"

"PMS?" He guessed.

"Shut the fuck up. No. I'm not PMSing you ass,"

"Are you just having mixed emotions about knowing your brother is alive?" Alex guessed correctly.

"Yes," I admitted, "I mean I love the guy to death, but, what happens when I see him again? Will he be different? Because I'm sure he won't be the same as before, people always change. Right? And, I hate to admit it, but I'm scared that he won't be the same person he was before, the brother that had so much patience with me," I poured out to Alexander.

"It's okay to be afraid," Alex admitted, "everybody gets afraid. It's a normal human emotion. Sometimes you can't control your emotions, you can only deal with them, cope with them, until the go away,"

"Thank you Alex." I said thankfully.

"For?"

"Always being here for me when I need you, always knowing the right things to say. Always being so you."

"That's what I do best," he joked, "I mean I am amazing,"

I lightly punched him on the shoulder.

"Really though, thank you," I said seriously.

"Just know that I'll always be here for you, Ray. Always. No matter where you are, if you're half way across the world, or 2 minutes away. Call, and I'll be there as quick as I can," He said to me while looking me in my eyes.

"You too, Alex," I said, "I'll be here for you no matter what, whether you're half way around the world or 2 minutes away. Call, and I'll be there as quick as I can,"

And even though we might not live until the end of this, a pact was made that night.

We would always have each other's backs, always. Until the end.

Until the very end.
