Kidnapping

JOHN POV

I sat by the fire before looking around, some time had passed and Tate nor Alexis had come back in. That wasn't abnormal for her at least as she would stay out there all night if she could. I grabbed a coat going to check on them since Tate's ice cream was starting to melt. As I slipped it on and turned the corner of the house I stopped. Tate's horse was standing in front of me and that wasn't normal. I led him back to the arena shutting him in I checked the barn not seeing either of them and worry started to fill me. I began checking everywhere. I went back to the house thinking maybe they had come in but checking both their rooms they were gone. I immediately knocked on the bedroom door.

"Monica." She opened the door and I looked at her "Sorry to bother you just checking to see if Tate is with you, Alexis bring him in?"

"Tate, no he's in his room" I sighed as she looked in and turned to me. I ran to the bunkhouse to get the boys.

"I need help, Tate and Alexis are gone." We began searching with lights

RIP POV

Getting back we saw flashlights as some of the boys ran around

"Something happened." Kayce said stopping the truck. We had just come back from helping Jimmy. Idiot almost got himself killed too over a belt buckle. I opened the door as Kayce stopped.

"Jake? The fuck is going on?"

"Can't find the boy-"

"My little boy?" Kayce asked

"Kayce we can't find him, or Alexis." At her name Kayce and I shared a look as I looked at Jake.

"Alexis is gone?"

"Can't find neither of them Mr. Dutton said they came out to feed his horse."

"Jimmy." I said looking at him. "Get flashlights out the back." Kayce took off after Jimmy gave him one and handed one to myself and Lloyd.

"Not like Lexi, something is wrong." I said as worry filled me. She was still recovering, she wasn't as prepared to properly defend herself. Day came and all of us were walking through the fields, no sign of Tate or Alexis. Anything could have happened, an animal and John said her gun was on her nightstand, so she was unarmed.

"Rip, we'll find them." I looked over as Beth spoke. I nodded until I heard John yell.

"Did any of you drive back here?!" I ran up to him and Kayce seeing tires tracks before we started running after them following them. It hurt like hell since I was supposed to still be resting but when it came to her I would fucking die. Kayce stopped and bent down.

"What?" John asked.

"Kayce?" I questioned. He stood up holding a boot and I saw it was Alexis'

"That is Lexi's boot." Monica collapsed screaming and crying as Beth tried to comfort her. It was clear now someone had taken them. I moved seeing gray a few yards into the trees and moved towards it. I gasped dropping to my knees as I saw Lexi.

"Kayce!" he ran up with John as I grunted trying to lift her.

"Rip let Kayce get her, your still injured."

"She's breathing." I slipped off my jacket putting it over her as Kayce held her.

"Oh my god, Lex." Beth said as Monica screamed. In Lex's hand was a small boot. Halfway back I saw her twitch before I groaned trying to catch her as Kayce dropped her when she swung on him.

"Fuck!"

"Get off me! Tate!" I grabbed her face and arm as she tried to swing.

"Lexi it's me, it's me baby."

"Tate! Where is Tate!"

"He's gone." Kayce said softly. She immediately started crying and looked at him and Monica.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Kayce bent hugging her as she cried.

"Not your fault." We got her back to the ranch and checked her over.

ALEXIS POV

"What happened?" I looked up at dad as Beth hugged me Rip was sitting in a chair now with his rifle over his lap.

"I helped Tate, watched him while he fed Lucky. Told him to shut the gate up and as he was doing it I heard something and when I went to turn around I got knocked out. I woke up when they were trying to get us in a van and started kicking and fighting They were trying to get Tate away from me and I had ahold of him. Heard one of them the driver on the phone saying it was handled and then telling the other two Malcolm said dump her.  Guess they realized I was too much so they wanted rid of me and when I tried to keep ahold of Tate they started hitting me and that was all I remember was someone pulling at me while I was in and out but I touched him then I woke up in Kayce's arms." I looked up at my brother and sister-in-law with tears streaming down my face, I knew my healing eye would be purple again. "I am so sorry, to both of you."

"Lex it isn't your fault you did everything you could"

"No I didn't! I should have kept awake I failed him and both of you!"

"Don't say that shit again!" He said yelling at me. "You did everything you fucking could to keep our son safe." They all walked off except Rip. I got up limping back into the house. I was crying looking out the window when I felt an arm around me. Looking I saw Monica who wiped my face.

"Thank you Alexis."

"For what, you should hate me."

"I don't, you tried everything to keep Tate safe and for that I thank you." I sighed hugging her as we both cried. Kayce left and I saw dad and Rip talking before dad walked in. I followed him to the office as he looked at Beth and I

"I need you two to leave."

"Dad."

"Alexis, I need someone out of this, someone needs to be clear here. I need you both to give me this." I sighed nodding as we walked out Kayce touching my arm. I walked out and saw Rip now gone and sighed.

"He was worried." I looked at Beth as she spoke. "Could see it all over his face when we were looking for you guys. He's the one who found you. Kayce found your boot but Rip he found you."

"Of course he did" I muttered Dad sent Kayce off somewhere and we sat around the porch. He walked off it after a while and answered his phone

"Come home." I walked off the porch and to him

"What he say?" Dad turned to me pulling something out of the inside of his vest and handing it to me It was an envelope.

"I need you or Beth to make an amendment to the trust Alexis." He handed it to me as I looked at him "Read this and then do what it asks" He put his hand on my shoulder rubbing lovingly. "I know who loves me. I know who's loyal. I always have." He walked off and I opened it looking it over shock crossing my face. I glanced at the house.

"What is it?" Jamie asked.

"Nne of your damn business." I said walking off.
