Summary: Virgil plays piano, but he still doesn't want the others to know, since he's still somewhat seen as a villain. he looks for a quiet place to practice

( I chose this video purely for the arrangement)

Virgil had just escaped from the real world leaving the other three light sides with their host. Patton kept asking Virgil to visit but every time he relented, the others always found something to blame the anxious side for. this often left him feeling more alone. he no longer felt aligned with the "dark" sides, and not exactly welcomed by the "light". so that left him wandering the mind space for hours.

Today he found himself in the theater space, he walked across the empty stage and flinched when the motion sensor turned the spotlight on. Virgil snapped his fingers and a black grand piano slowly materialized in front of him. he sat on the bench and his fingers slowly played a scale with one hand, his fingers crossing over another. his left hand-copying his right. he tested out a few chords, hearing the sound echo in the empty room fading into the distance. he began to play a melody Thomas heard on the radio recently. after a few measures, he added chords. almost immediately he heard the lyrics playing in his head. heeling his shoulders fall he allowed himself to hum along to the song.

" don't get too close, it's dark inside, it's where my demons hide" he sang under his breath. soon he came to the end of the song, he played the last note then sighed. " how long have you been there?" he asked.

roman had been sitting in an aisle seat of the theater after he was discovered, the prince stood and walked to the stage. " the first chorus. it was a rather pleasant rendition of the song." " roman sanders give someone other than himself a compliment- stop the presses" he smirked roman rolled his eyes " just take the damn compliment doom and gloom." " how do you even know about demons," Virgil asked. roman had made it up onto the stage. " I am allowed to have more musical interests besides Disney and musical theater. Thomas isn't that simple." "I guess." " could you do a prince a favor?" Virgil shrugged " depends on what that favor is."

" play it again?" Virgil was slightly taken aback. Romans never asked him to keep doing something. but he obliged. he didn't know what caused him to, but he also sang along after the first two measures

V: when the days are cold and the cards all fold, and the saints we see Are all made of gold

V: when your dreams all fail And the ones we hail are the worst of all and the blood runs stale

V: I wanna hide the truth- R: I wanna shelter you

V: but with the beast inside- B: there's nowhere we can hide

V: no matter what we breed, we still are made of greed

R: this is my kingdom come, this is my kingdom come

V: when you feel my heat, look into my eyes

V: it where my demons hide, it where my demons hide

V: don't get too close, it's dark inside

V: it's where my demons hide- R: it's where my demons hide

V: when the curtains call is the last of all

V: when the lights fade out All the sinner's crawl

R: so they dug your grave  And the masquerade Will come calling out of the mess you made

R: don't wanna let you down- V: but I'm hell bound

R: know this is all for you- B: don't wanna hide the truth

V: no matter what we breed we still are made of greed

R: this is my kingdom come- V: this is my kingdom come

V when you feel my heat, look into my eyes

V: it's where my demons hide -V: it's where my demons hide

V: don't get too close, it's dark inside

V: it's where my demons hide -R: it's where your demons hide

V: they say it what you make, I say it's up to fate

V: it's woven in my soul- V: I need to let you go

R: your eyes they shine so bright, I wanna save that light

V: I can't escape it now unless you show me how

V: when you feel my heat, look into my eyes

V: it's where my demons hide  it's where my demons hide V: don't get too close, it's dark inside

V: it's where my demons hide  it's where my demons hide
