I woke to the blaring sound of the alarm and groaned. It's been two days since the party and since I saw Brook. Two days of my mother also pestering me about having thrown a party at the house when she and my sister had gone to stay at her boyfriend's.

Shaking my head, I climbed out of bed and made my way to the bathroom across my room to take a shower before heading to the kitchen to grab something to eat.

"Morning," I greeted my mother and sister when I joined them for breakfast.

"Ohayō, Onii-San," my sister replied with a beaming smile that I returned. It seems she was having a much better day today than yesterday. She was also eating her meal.

"Good morning, Jake," Trevor greeted and I nodded while mom kissed me on the cheek

"You're up early," she said and I nodded.

"I wanted to get a few hours of training in," I said and she raised a brow, "I haven't gone to the gym in a while."

"How's boxing going?" Trevor questioned and so that was how our morning went with us talking all things boxing while mom and Tory watched us with sighs. They have long gotten over us talking about boxing so whenever that conversation comes up, they just ignore us.

"Well, I've gotta get going, I've got a meeting with a client," Trevor said once we were finished, mom nodded and kissed him on the lips before he turned to kiss Tory on the forehead while he patted my shoulder on his way out.

Mom and Trevor have been together for four years but because my mom still wasn't officially divorced from my deadbeat father, he couldn't move in nor could they get married. It was stupid if you asked me. I mean the asshole had already gotten with some bitch he met at a bar and moved in with her less than a week after leaving my mom but she can't remake her life until she was a free woman. It sucks having to see him leave every day after dinner instead of just wishing him and my mom a goodnight before heading to bed like both Tory and I want.

Trevor has been in our lives more than our father has. He was a drunk and he'd frequently beat my mom to a pulp whenever he got wasted. I had gotten a few broken bones from getting in the way. I don't know what he fucking did to make the judge turn in his favor and warn my mom that if she brought a new man home before the divorced papers were official that he'd grant the asshole custody of Tory but I'll rather die before the bastard takes my sister from my mother.

Just thinking of him boiled my blood. I climbed my bike and revved the engine before shooting down the road towards the gym.

Brook surprised me by asking to meet at a nearby park to talk after school. We haven't spoken since the party at my house back in September. Yes, I've caught her looking at me when she thought no one was looking but she wasn't the only one. I've found myself looking at her more so than usual as well. She was beautiful I won't lie. She has a great smile, a perfect frame, and beauty that rivals Aphrodite herself, but her confidence is what I find the sexiest. She was the most confident girl I've ever known.

Though she's the daughter of a famous actor and a record label owner, she doesn't let fame get to her like I know other girls and guys would have done if they had been in her place. No, instead she's a very down-to-earth, humble girl that drives a cheap car instead of driving a car worth more than my house.

I was broken out of my thoughts at the sound of a gasp and looked towards Brook to see that Hanna, the school cheerleading captain, was glaring at her.

"You bitch," Hanna snarled and Brook only gave her a droll look while her sister, Wynter if I'm right, smiled.

"As she said, Brook is allowed to talk to whoever she wants and that includes Jacob. He's not yours." The girl said making Hanna glare.

"We're dating," Hanna lied making me roll my eyes at her and Brook bit her lip to keep from laughing much like her sister was doing. Other students didn't and burst into laughter.

"Oh please," Archer, one of my friends, said making Hanna glare at him this time but he didn't let it affect him, "Jacob would rather date his bike than you."

And I couldn't hold in and laughed catching the attention of everyone. "Man, that was a good one."

"Jacob, tell this whore that I'm your girlfriend," Hanna demanded and I instantly sobered up when her name called Brook and I wasn't the only one either. The entire student body that had witnessed the interaction did as well.

"What did you just call her?" I asked and she fucking dared repeat the insult.

"Whore. Slut. Skank. Do you want-" I took her by the arms cutting her off and sneered down at her, making her eyes go wide in fear.

"Never. Do you fucking hear? Never call her that again because I will fucking forget that you're a girl and hit you. Do I make myself clear?" I demanded.

She quickly nodded her head, "You are nothing to me, Hanna, get that through your thick skull." I let her go after that and watched as she ran out of the building with tears streaming down her face and her friends chasing after her. I looked at the remaining students in the hall and they scrambled away going back to doing whatever they had been doing before they got caught up in the conversation between Brook and Hanna and me.

"You didn't have to be harsh on her," I looked at the sound of Carlie, another of Hanna's friends, that had stayed back and I gave her a droll look making her shake her head, "You are an asshole, Jacob."

"So I've been told," I replied and she scoffed before she too left the building.

"Thank you," a soft voice whispered, and looked to see Brook standing a few feet away from me. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

"You shouldn't have to deal with bitches like her," I said and saw her suppress a smile.

"I know."

She left soon after that with her sister beside her.

"That's a first of you standing up for someone," Archer said, and he was right. I've never been one to stick my nose into other people's fights or stick up for someone else. So why did I do that now? Damn it.

"I doubt it'll be the last either," I murmured and he sighed patting my shoulder.

"Come on, we have training today."
