The storm raged outside but the girls inside the barn didn't mind, for the first time all summer they could finally be together again. Even with some cracks starting to form the friendship still felt real and firm. Above the lights flickered, all the laugher stopped. Lottie put her cup down on the table, "Must be the storm" she hesitated .
Everyone sat listening to the noise coming from outside, looking at each other. "Something's out there" Aria whispered. Lottie felt her stomach lurch as fear took hold. She slowly moved behind Emily, wanting to be brave but not finding it in herself.
"Guys" Hannah said looking at the barn door open. Lottie murmured a cry when Emily pulled her to stand, all the girls went to investigate. Another crash came from outside. Lottie put her head on Emily's shoulder covering her eyes. "I hate this".
"Gotcha!" Alison yelled jumping out of the dark. Everyone scream, Lottie the most who fell on the floor covering her eyes. Emily knelt by her as Alison laughed, carefully she stood up again, That's so not funny, Alison" Spence laughed.
"I think I died for a second Lottie muttered holding her hand over her heart.
"I thought it was hilarious, girls" Alison smiled, "you're an easy target Lo". Everyone laughed along apart from Lottie who was annoyed. This had been happening a lot recently.
"Ali, did you download the new Beyoncé?" Hannah asked innocently. "Not yet" Alison shook her head. "I'm loving her new video" Emily joint in smiling, Lottie smiled too just happy her best friend was happy. "Maybe a little too much, Em." Alison replied smugly. Lottie face dropped seeing the smile fall from Emily's face. Alison was a real bitch sometimes.
"Here you go" Alison smiled handing the drink she had just added something too.
Lottie took it from her and didn't question what was in it before drinking nearly half the glass already. All her friends laughed at her, "Take too much, and you'll tell us all your secrets" Spence said.
Lottie laughed with her friends.
"Friends share secrets. That's what keeps us close" Alison said. Lottie really wished she could tell her that wasn't true, she knew for a fact everyone in that room was keeping a secret, maybe hers was the biggest one.
Lottie gave the glass over to Aria, "Drink up".
Later that night Lottie woke up to Aria calling her name, rubbing her eyes she sat up. "what is it?". "Ali and spencer are missing" Hannah told her. Lottie flopped back down, "They probably went to the toilet or something".
Spencer came through the doors looking confused. "She's gone". "Gone?" Lottie asked sitting up again. "What do you mean she's gone?" Aria repeated.
"I've looked everywhere for her" the friends all look at each other, "I think I heard her scream".
