Chapter 6 [Revised]

3rd person, Sophia

Soph woke up to find her bag on top of her desk. Everything was in it. Her iPhone said 15 missed calls from Ryan. Surprisingly, her heart skipped a beat. 

“It’s only 15, Soph,” she told herself, “and he only called you because Helena had already put the food out.” But part of her wanted to believe that he cared… that he still cared. 

FLASHBACK*******

“I have a boyfriend! I have a boyfriend!” 7 year old Sophia sang, skipping down the street. There was Ryan, behind her, looking as if he might cry. That day at school, a boy named Lenny Kravitz asked her to be his "girlfriend". 

“What’s wrong Ryan?” Sophia finally noticed he was upset. Ryan looked up, his eyes starting to water up at the sight of the love of his life happy and “in love”, but not with him.

“I don’t want you to go out with Lenny!” Ryan was full-on crying now.

“But why Ryan? I love Lenny!” Sophia asked innocently. 

“Because he’s ugly,” Ryan said. But Lenny was the cutest little 7 year old ever, and Ryan knew that. 

“No he is not, Ryan! You just don’t want to be happy for me! I’m calling my lawyer!” That was a term Sophia used whenever she didn’t want to do something, like make her bed. 

“I’m not going to talk to you if you keep being girlfriend to Lenny!” Ryan threatened.

“No! Ryan!” Sophia’s lip quivered. 

“Then don’t be girlfriend to Lenny!” Ryan smiled.

“I’M CALLING MY LAWYER!” Sophia shouted. 

“THEN I’M NOT TALKING TO YOU!” Ryan shouted back.

“THEN I’M CALLING MY LAWYER!”

“THEN I’M NOT TALKING TO YOU!”

It went on like this for a whole hour until Isabella and Helena got worried and went out to look for them. Ryan then told Isabella about Lenny, and Sophia was banned from having a boyfriend until she was 16. Sophia hated Ryan for about a week for that. Which was the longest she ever hated Ryan. She cut off all connections to him - she wouldn’t go to Helena’s birthday, or Ryan’s, which was a few days after that. But after that week, she wrote Ryan a messy letter:

RYaN,

I aM so sorry that I Ignord yOu. AnD espeshaly oN yoU and yoUr mOmmY’s bIrthDay. Plees acksept thIs gIft of A Transformer robOt as a laTe bIrthDay gIft. I alSo mAde A cArd for yoUr mOmMy.

Only Sophia’s super closest friends and family could call her Sophie. She didn’t even let her best friends from home, Kayla Delli-Gatti, and Rachel Tringali call her Sophie. Only one other friend, Elizabeth Bendick. Because they’ve been together for a long time. Of course, not as long as Ryan. But still. 

BACK TO THE FUTURE**********

“Sophie! Robert and I are going into town with Kyle. Can you and Ryan housesit for a little while?” Helena asked.

“Sure,” Sophia smiled. When Helena , Kyle and Robert left, she went up to her room to do some extra credit work her English teacher, Mrs. Vilchez assigned. It was an easy peasy lemon sleazy assignment: write about your Summer. No making stuff up, she was so strict on that rule that she said to have a parent sign it after. 

Suddenly, Sophia’s stomach growled. She decided to go downstairs and ask Ryan if he wanted anything to eat. 

As she was walking downstairs, there was… a horrifying sight. 

RYAN AND SHAYLAH KISSING! ON THE COUCH! WITH RYAN’S SHIRT OFF AND SHAYLAH’S TOP HALF-OFF!

“Oh my fucking God!” Sophia screamed, tears starting to run down her face.

“Sophia? What are you doing here? What’s wrong?” Ryan asked.

“Shaylah! I thought you were my friend!” Sophia yelled.

“I am, Sophia! What’s wrong with me making out with Ryan? It’s not like you two are dating or anything!” Shaylah frowned.

“It’s just… never mind! If you two want to have a love fest then don’t have it here!” Shocked, Sophia ran back up to her room. She opened a baggie of Godiva chocolates and began stuffing them in her mouth one by one. Chocolate solves everything. Including hunger. Sophia drifted into sleep.

And she smelled something burning. She suddenly sat up, knocking the Godiva chocolates to the ground. She ran downstairs again, fearing seeing Shaylah and Ryan. She sniffled again at the thought. 

There was Ryan, passed out on the ground… AND A HUGE FIRE!!! 

“What do I do? What do I do?!?!” Sophia mumbled to herself as she looked for a fire extinguisher.

“Aha!” she found one. But wait… Ryan! Sophia grabbed the phone on the counter and immediately dialed 911.

“911, what’s your emergency?” the lady on the other line asked.

“Help me! There’s a giant fire and my friend’s passed out on the ground! Please send help immediately!” Sophia cried, then dropped the phone as she saw the fire getting bigger, and bigger.

“Oh dear God, please no,” she whimpered. 

But being the brave girl she is, she grabbed the fire extinguisher and tried getting the fire out. Most of it was gone, but there was still too much. 

“Oh God,” Sophia said as she felt dizzy. She got dizzier… and dizzier… and dizzier.

“Wh-wh-what’s going on?” She suddenly sat up, awake now.

“Where’s the fire?! What happened to Ryan?” 

“Shh, calm down Sophie,” Helena patted Sophia’s head, “It’s all ok now. You saved Ryan.”

“Wh-no I didn’t?” Sophia blinked.

“Yes you did. We’ll talk about this when we get home. But look, this was in Ryan’s hand when he passed out. I promise I didn’t read it,” Helena smiled.

Sophie,

So, um, sorry if me being with Shaylah upset you. We didn’t mean for that to happen, and even though she’ll deny this, I swear she attacked me! She said she wanted to come and give you something or whatnot. She forcefully took my shirt off, too. Promise.

Sophia snorted. She might believe the part about Shaylah attacking Ryan, but definitely not the part of Shaylah forcefully taking off his shirt. 

“Helena? How much longer do I have to stay here?” Sophia asked. 

“A few more days honey. You only have some minor burns. It didn’t take long before the ambulance and fire department got here. Apparently the fire was started from Ryan trying to make grilled cheese sandwiches,” Helena chuckled.

“Oh, ok,” Sophia smiled. 

  Author's Note: I really hope you guys liked this chapter! I also really hope it was long! So I've realized that I love making Polyvores! I keep making them for Sophia:) Anyways, have you guys heard the song Friday by Rebecca Black? I really dislike it. Her voice is annoying, but that's just my opinion.
