Ryan's POV
All the money I'd saved up from working. Just enough to buy a plane ticket to New York, to Sophie. I hope she wasn't mad at me.
"And where on earth are you going young man?!" My mother shrieked as she saw me packing.
"I'm going for Sophia, Mom."
"No you are not. She is perfectly fine with that woman Cassandra," My mother said angrily, "I will not give you the money for a plane ticket Ryan. So forget about it."
"I don't need your money Mom," I said, "I've been saving."
"But that was going to be for a new car!"
"Well this is more important."
"Ryan I will not having you all the way across the country just to see someone you've been pushing away all summer!"
I cringed. It was true I've tried pushing Soph away... in the beginning of summer, "Well whatever. It's my money."
"You know what? Go ahead. I can't even control my own son anymore," Mom sat down on my bed and began to weep.
"Mom what's wrong? I'm sorry but I just have to go," I said, sitting down next to her.
"I'm losing the both of you," Mom whispered.
"No you're not. You have Kyle. I'll be gone for a short while."
Mom nodded and smiled sadly and told me the name of this woman's address.
And here I am. New York, New York. It didn't take long to find Sophia's new address, it was the biggest house in the state I believe! I was sneaking around some bushes, wondering where Sophia's room was, when I suddenly saw a woman come out, holding onto a little girl... that wasn't Sophie. And the house, it suddenly burst into flames! Was Sophia inside?! What do I do???!!!!
I didn't even know if Sophia was inside or not, but I quickly went in anyway.
"HELP ME!" It was Sophia! I quickly made my way to where the sound was coming from, but the door was locked. That must've been Sophia!
I quickly break the door down to find Sophia clutching a piece of paper, unconcious. I carry her bridal style and take her outside.
"Sophia, wake up! Don't do this to me!" I cried.
I brought Sophia outside and I heard the woman say, "Hey boy! Who are you? What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
I figured she was that Cassandra Barry lady, so without even thinking, I punched her unconcious and called the cops.
~
"WHERE THE HELL IS SHE!?" Sophia suddenly screamed. My eyes opened and saw that beautiful angel that stepped in and out of my life for the past 16 years.
"Sophia!" I smiled.
"R-R-Ryan I'm so sorry," She started to cry.
I grab her arm, "It's ok."
"What happened?" She asked, blinking.
"Well I had a hunch, and asked Mom for this lady's address and took the first flight to New York. I was walking around the house, when this lady came out holding onto a little girl so I hid behind some bushes and I realized the house was on fire and-"
"So you saved me?" She interrupted.
"Let me finish. And I kinda just went in after I heard the lady smile and scream 'The deed is done!' like a maniac."
"So you went into a burning buiding without even knowing if I was there or not?!" Sophia screamed.
"Sophia please stop screaming, it's not good. But yeah, I guess I kinda did. I took you out of the house along with a note you were holding. I read, I hope you don't mind, but that lady is evil! As soon as I got you outside, she was still there by the way, she was all like 'Hey boy! Who are you? What the hell do you think you're doing?!' and I figured she was that Cassandra lady so I knocked her out and called the police."
"R-Ry-Ryan you're, you're my hero," She says, starting to weep, "I'm so sorry. I feel so bad and-"
"Hey," I said, cupping her beautiful heart shaped face in my hands, "Don't worry about a thing."
"I just, I just didn't realize anything until I read that letter," I smiled.
"Can... can I see that letter?" Sophia asked.
"Sure," I said, handing it to her. She scanned it really fast and she started to cry again.
"SHE KILLED MY PARENTS! SHE KILLED MY PARENTS! I'M GOING TO KILL THAT WOMAN!" She said, trying to get out of her bed.
"No, no! Sophia you need rest! I'm going to call your doctor and my mom's-" I was suddenly cut off.
"SOPHIA!" Mom was in the door, in her sheep pajamas, tears streaming down her face.
"ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" She screamed. Sophia nodded and handed her the letter. After reading it thoroughly, then scanning it a few more times. She looked up, her face as red as a tomato. Literally.
"Be right back," She whispered. Sophie and I looked at each other, worried. What was Mom going to do??!!
Suddenly, she came back in the room, grabbing... Cassandra... by her hair.
"STOP, STOP!" Cassandra was screaming.
"YOU BITCH! HOW COULD YOU KILL MY PARENTS?! YOU'RE A CRUEL, HEARTLESS PERSON!" Sophia screamed with so much rage and fury that I didn't even know she had.
"Same way I almost killed you. If only your little meddling boyfriend didn't get in the way of everything," she smirked.
Sophia blushed, "He... he's not my boyfriend." My heart instantly shattered.
"I need some water," I muttered quickly, my voice cracking. I left the room.
I know I'm not her boyfriend. But I do wish I could be. I've waited 6 years to see her again. But I messed everything up. I let a few tears trickle down but I quickly go into the mens room and wash my face.
"Hey Sophie," I say, returning to her room. Mom was gone.
"Hi," She smiled her angelic smile.
"So... what's gonna happen now?" I ask quietly.
"This," Sophia says, then she does something I've been waiting 16 years for. She kisses me. When we both pull away, I smiled.
"I've been waiting 16 years for you to do that Soph."
"Not that long, I'm sure," She smiles.
If only she really knew.
