IT WAS TIMES LIKE THESE that made Lina remember that fighting was indeed fun. She joined Piper while they were fighting Earthborn, which was honestly funny since some would just stare at her in awe. Their weapons dropping as she smiled at them, causing them to smile back as Lina sliced through them with her saber.
She could see Jason atop a wind spirit, charging through the crowds of monsters swatting at them like flies with his wooden plank. Leo, on the other hand, was facing off the icy bitch herself. And while normally Lina would shake the absolute shit out of him, since he clearly had a death wish, she had to admit he was truly the only one that could fight her.
She kept summoning ice daggers to throw at him, blasts of winter air, and tornadoes of snow. Leo burned through them all. His body, was covered in red hot, flickering flames looking like a human campfire. In his hands he used to silver-tipped ball-peen hammers smashing any monsters that dared get in his way.
"Oh, crap." Lina bit out a curse as she dodged a wolf who had gotten too close for comfort. She swiped her weapon along it's side, knowing that it wouldn't die but at least it was hurt enough that it didn't feel like rejoining the fight.
Too late, Lina realized that with her dodge she had promptly lost her footing and fully expected to go sliding on some of the ice that had covered the floor of the building. She was however pleasantly surprised when she found that her foot hit solid ground, the ice where she had been stepping and fighting around had melted leaving little circles or Lina's footprints.
"You're too late," Khione snarled. "He's awake! And don't think you've won anything here demigods. Hera's plan will never work. You'll be at each other's throats before you can ever stop us. And Lina you will fade before ever carrying out your misguided mission."
Leo set his hammers ablaze and threw them at the goddess, but she turned to snow— a white powdery image of herself. Leo's hammers slammed into the snow woman, breaking it into a steaming mound of mush.
Lina took a big gulp of air, she hadn't realized that she had in fact held her breath at the last lines Khione had spoken. And as she walked over to the group her brain could only mull over the words.
"Woah, Sparky I think we need to give you a new nickname. Or maybe your horse can take your place. I kinda see a resemblance." Lina joked as the horse whinnied and electricity crackled across his hooves.
Then a cracking sound was heard behind them. The melting ice on Hera's cage sloughed off in a curtain of slush, and the goddess called, "Oh, don't mind me! Just the queen of the heavens, dying over here!"
"You think she would die a little quieter."
Jason dismounted and told Tempest to stay put. The four demigods jumped into the pool and ran to the spire.
Leo frowned. "Uh, Tía Callida, are you getting shorter?"
"No, you dolt! The earth is claiming me. Hurry!"
As much as Lina absolutely disliked Hera, what she saw inside the cage began to alarm her. Not only was Hera sinking, the ground was rising around her like water in a tank. Liquid rock had already covered her shins. "The giant wakes!" Hera warned. "You only have seconds!"
"On it," Leo said. "Piper, I need your help. Talk to the cage."
"What?" she said.
"Talk to it. Use everything you've got. Convince Gaea to sleep. Lull her into a daze. Just slow her down, try to get the tendrils to loosen while I—"
