{Jason}
THE GIRL LOOKED shocked at Lina's answer. In fact, all of them had a look of surprise on their faces as they turned to look at the blonde.
"I see." The girl cleared her throat and her face hardened, glaring at the four.
"Well father will want to see the one named Jason," the girl said.
"Then it is him?" Zethes asked excitedly as he recovered from the surprise.
"We'll see," the girl said. "Zethes, bring our guests."
Jason saw Leo ready to move. He had grabbed the handle of the dragon suitcase and looked ready to lug it up the stairs. How he was gonna do it, Jason had no idea.
Before Leo could take a step the girl turned to face him.
"Not you, Leo Valdez," she said. "You cannot be in the presence of my father. Fire and ice— it would not be wise."
"We're going together," Jason insisted, putting his hand on Leo's shoulder. He noticed Lina scooting closer, "or not at all."
The girl tilted her head, stole a glance at Lina and then faced Jason. "He will not be harmed, Jason Grace, unless you make trouble. Calais, keep Leo Valdez here. Guard him, but do not kill him."
Jason turned to look at Leo, he noticed Piper and Lina did too. A question on all their faces.
Leo only shook his head. "It's fine, guys," he said. "No sense in causing trouble if we don't have to. You go ahead."
The three nodded and turned to face the girl.
"Take us to your leader," Lina said after the silence had stretched out too long.
Jason and Piper smiled while the girl just glared.
Lina shrugged. "Sorry, I've always wanted to do that. Okay now seriously let's get moving."
The three soon made their way up the stairs, Zethes behind them, his blade drawn.
The ice princess turned around often and when she did, she was either giving Jason weird smiles or glaring at Lina. In fact, Jason wondered what was up between the two of them. How did the ice princess know Lina?
He turned his head to look at the said girl and found her melting some ice. She was—glowing? Her body had this sort of radiance, it was kinda like he was looking at the sun.
Jason hadn't noticed they had stopped until the ice princess's voice rang out. "Warmth is not a good idea here," she advised, her gaze on Lina, "especially when I am your best chance at staying alive. Now, come this way."
Lina just glared at the girl but started moving once again, while Zethes poked his sword into his back to get him to move again and they followed the princess down a massive hallway decked in frosty tapestries.
Freezing winds blew back and forth, and Jason's thoughts moved almost as fast. He'd had a lot of time to think while they rode the dragon north, but he felt as confused as ever.
Thalia's picture was still in his pocket, though he didn't need to look at it anymore. Her image had burned itself into his mind. It was bad enough not remembering his past, but to know he had a sister out there somewhere who might have answers and to have no way of finding her—that just drove him up the wall.
In the picture, Thalia looked nothing like him. They both had blue eyes, but that was it. Her hair was black. Her complexion was more Mediterranean. Her facial features were sharper—like a hawk's.
