Both of them were so excited that tomorrow came, but I had been nervous as hell.
They both had a sense of what band mates do and how to have fun with each other and whatnot, but for me, I was scared I was going to ruin things or fuck something up. They would always laugh and they would always make jokes with each other and I wanted to be like that, but I was scared that both of them were gonna hate me once they knew that I had known nothing about bands whatsoever.
I go to Luke's at noon, and Calum was right behind me with his bass guitar. We all ran up to the studio room and all say talking out what our plan was. First, Luke handed me a guitar and told me to 'figure out how it works' so I could actually do something. Calum showed us what he could do with his bass; it was simple, but we could take it.
Luke told Calum to sing for us. He was nervous just like I was, and it took him a minute to start up, but once he got going, he got into it and sang his little heart out. His voice was amazing, yet different. It was somewhat raspy, and high. Luke said he was a tenor, and I was a bass. Whatever that means.
He also wanted me to sing again, but I changed that subject and pulled out my book of songs I'd been writing in. Calum was the first to freak out about it, flipping through every page and eyeballing each lyric. He seemed really engaged and excited to no extent, I wish I had felt the same way.
Both of them really seemed to like my 'Unpredictable' song, and 'Out of My Limit'. 'Out of My Limit' was actually written about Luke a few nights ago when I starting realising that he might've not had been as bad as I thought, but still to good for me. I changed to lyrics to say 'she' instead of 'he' just so Calum wouldn't suspect anything because of mine and Luke's little secret.
The thing was, Luke looked up and winked at me right when Calum read the song out loud, because he knew exactly that it was about him. He kept the thought to himself, of course, as I did with mine.
"We should definitely start off with a few covers though, just because it'l be easier then writing the music to this in the mean time. What song do you guys wanna do?" Luke asks.
The two of them start shouting out songs that I've never even heard of before. They fought back and forth about it until they finally looked at me, wanting me to sort it out.
"Mikey, do you have any suggestions? You're being awfully quiet.." Calum says.
"Oh, uhm, no, I'll do whatever you guys want." I smile, rocking back and forth in my chair.
I was honestly more focused on trying to get the damn guitar to work, I remembered somewhat of what Luke taught me last night but not all of it, and it was frustrating to get it right.
"Okay, okay. Let's just do a simple song that's been on the radio. How about The Fray? You Found Me?" Calum settles.
My head jerks up, my eyes get big. I actually know that song. I have actually heard that song a reasonable amount of times to sing the lyrics back. I knew who The Fray were, I was so excited I had actually gotten something for once. "Yes! I wanna do that one!" I say, getting overly happy.
Luke and Calum both laugh at my reaction, we all agree on it. Calum gets his bass ready while Luke runs into the room next door and brings back a video recorder and starts setting it up across the room.
"What are you doing with that?" Cal asks.
"Recording it. For YouTube." He says, like it's obvious.
We stare at him like he's gone crazy.
"What?"
"Don't put this on YouTube! We've never even rehearsed before!"
"No, no, it'll be cool. We'll film it now, people will see it, and when we're 18 and famous we'll watch it back again and think it was so completely awesome that this is what started it all! C'mon, trust me with this one." Luke had a good point for once. Maybe if we filmed even this, we could get views on it and people would know who we are. Also, it's better than performing for real, in front of people, which was nerve-wrecking and not something I was up for- it was simple for us to post a video and people seeing us without actually seeing us.
