I was genuinely worried about Luke.
But I didn't dare ask, knowing it'd only make it worse.
I just waited for his sadness to wear off and everything would be back to normal.
---
It was Saturday again, I was excited to pick up the guitar again and record another YouTube video. Luke and Ashton were already in the garage, we got set up for everything until Calum came. Today, we were doing another cover, but this was going to be our first ever song that was somewhat sad and depressing. I didn't mind that, though, I was just happy to be here and to be playing.
"Are we all ready to go?" Calum asked, slipping on his bass strap.
"Yeah.."
"1 2 3 4," Ashton counts in. Luke didn't seem to make eye contact with me, which got me somewhat worried that he was mad or upset at me for some reason, until I realised he wasn't making eye contact with anyone. Ashton seemed concerned as well, slightly looking over at Luke every so often while still engaging in his drums.
Calum was the first one to sing.
"Hello there, the angel from my nightmare. the shadow in the background of the morgue..
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley we can live like Jack and Sally if we want,
Where you can always find me, and we'll have Halloween on Christmas, and in the night we'll wish this never ends..
We'll wish this never ends."
Luke was the second one to sing, but right as he started, I could tell he was choked up.
"Where are you? And I'm so sorry.."
His voice cracked as he shouted the lyrics. His voice was filled with anger, but the way he sang was passionate.
"I cannot sleep, I cannot dream tonight,
I need somebody and always.."
He didn't finish. In fact, he threw the microphone down and took his guitar off and quickly setting it on the stand, too fast so it fell down and he ran out of the garage. This scared me.
"Luke.." Ashton said, stopping everything.
"I'll get him," I volunteer, attempting to put my stuff away.
"No, no. Let Calum do it." He says. I don't know why, but I let Calum go ahead of me.
Calum puts down the bass and runs after Luke, calling his name.
