wiping the sweat from his brow, hyunjin studied the canvas.

chris' present was almost finished now; all that was left was the smudge of a person at the center of the beautiful scenery.

he looked it over, wondering how he should fill them in. a single mistake could throw off the entire art piece, and he wanted to make sure chris would love it.

with a groan, hyunjin mashed his face with his paint-stained hands, getting several smudges of blue and white streaked across his nose and left cheekbone.

he was sore from sitting in place on the stool, and the apartment was starting to feel stuffy.

but he couldn't open the window; the weather report said it was going to snow today.

the first snow of the winter.

hyunjin stood up and slowly drew the curtain, leaving it open an inch. he stared out fiercely at the sky, silently daring it to snow. his eyes passed over the masses dressed from head to toe in puffy jackets, hats, and scarves, eager for the first snow.

he scoffed and yanked the curtain shut.

placing his hand on his back as he straightened his posture as best he could, hyunjin surveyed his messy apartment (read: art studio).

the room was extremely dim now; it would be impossible to work in. he made a mental note to buy a lamp as soon as possible.

there was something about the cold weather and short days, something that made him feel weak and easily tired.

just another thing to hate about the bitter winter.

he leaned back against a wall and slowly slid down to a sitting position, pulling his knees to his chest in an effort to conserve as much body heat as possible.

somehow, he fell asleep in this position.

"jinjin! hyun! hyunie, wake up!!"

"jinjin! hyun! hyunie, wake up!!"

hyunjin was shaken out of sleep by his excited shouts. his long, blond hair was in a tousled mess, several tufts sticking up in the air. rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he asked in a thick, raspy tone, "what's going on? why are your hands so cold?"

"look! it's snowing!!"

his smaller hands grabbed onto hyunjin's, pulling him out of bed with sudden strength.

"come on, come on!!"

he haphazardly threw hyunjin's coat around his shoulders and shoved his feet into slippers before forcibly yanking him to the door.

hyunjin's teeth began chattering immediately in the frosty air. his breath was misty and white in front of him, and he questioned just how he had allowed himself to be paraded out of bed at this hour.

but it was him. how could he ever say no to him? how could he ever not give him what he wanted without question?

he excitedly pulled on hyunjin's arm again, leading him to the icy patches of grass, to where the snow was beginning to pile up.

"look! i made a snow hyunie."

hyunjin wiped the last of sleep from his puffy eyes and shivered violently, pulling his coat closer around his body.

in front of them was a misshapen lump of snow with long strands of grass for hair. its eyes and mouth were formed from several differently-shaped pebbles and it had sticks for arms. somehow, he had even managed to wedge one of hyunjin's paintbrushes in one of its "hands".

as the snow soaked through his slippers, hyunjin suddenly realized that he was standing in the middle of the first snow of the year in pajamas and a coat, wearing only thin slippers on his feet.

but he turned to hyunjin then with big, sparkly eyes, the brightest of smiles on his lips, and the blonde suddenly could find no reason to be angry.

"it's your turn to make a snow sungie!"
