the following scenes in this chapter are only memories, but i didn't want to italicize everything, so i kept it all normal text.
also, lots of dialogue in the beginning. <3
"sungie?"
"i'm here, i'm here."
relief flooded hyunjin's chest upon hearing jisung on the other end. "did... i wake you?"
"eh... no, i'm normally up at... 4 in the morning," jisung replied suavely, his voice thick with obvious sleepiness.
hyunjin adjusted the way he was laying down, tucking more of the blanket around his body. "i'm sorry, sungie. i had a nightmare, and... i really wanted to hear your voice."
jisung sounded a lot more awake now. "a nightmare? oh... you're nervous about the art program, huh?"
hyunjin rested the phone on the side of his face, clutching the blanket and pulling it up to his chin. "what if i don't make it, sungie?"
"hyunie..." scratching and rustling noises filled his end of the line as jisung adjusted the way he was laying down. "it's probably best to not think about it. you'll drive yourself crazy with worry."
"hm. then what should i do when it pops into my head again," hyunjin questioned seriously, rubbing his cold hands together.
jisung said brightly, "think of your very cute boyfriend, hannie!!"
this caused hyunjin to let out a giggle as his heart bloomed with warmth for jisung.
"hyun... i'll always be here for you. i'm not going anywhere."
hyunjin knocked on the door very carefully, struggling with the plastic bag he'd worked so hard to bring to jisung's place without spilling.
a text message dinged its way into his phone, and the blond let out a groan of frustration before digging it out.
jisung had texted, "go away hannie is sick ):".
"i know," hyunjin replied, arms wobbling with the weight of the plastic bag swinging from his wrist. "my mom sent me over here with soup for you, and i'm not leaving until i see you finish the soup so i can tuck you in !!"
a few minutes later, the door clicked as it unlocked, and hyunjin pushed it open. he was welcomed by the sight of a red-nosed jisung with a blanket wrapped around his body and head, sniffling and shivering.
"you already drank medicine, right?" jisung simply nodded his head vigorously in response to hyunjin's question.
hyunjin then quickly shut the door and led jisung over to the collapsible folding table, sitting him down in a chair. he set down the bag and flicked off his sweater, already sweating. jisung had the heater on, and it was roasting in the small apartment.
with that, he sat down and carefully poured out soup for jisung, nearly burning off a few fingers.
once they had finished eating, jisung was already looking better. his steps were less wobbly and the shivers had completely ceased.
with swift but gentle movements, hyunjin helped jisung get into bed, tucking the thick covers around his small body.
he smiled widely and then leaned forward, softly kissing jisung's hot forehead. with a hand, hyunjin cupped his boyfriend's face and ran his thumb over the round edge of his cheek.
jisung then requested in a shaky voice that hyunjin stay until he fell asleep.
which, he did.
but they were both startled awake several hours later, by the sudden sneeze that exploded from hyunjin's body.
"i got you sick," jisung complained immediately, hearing hyunjin sniffle and rub his nose.
with a roll of his eyes, hyunjin explained, "jisung i've been here for like, two hours. that's not enough time for me to get sick because of you; i must have already been getting sick. scoot over. i wanna lie down."
jisung obeyed dutifully, and opened up his arms as hyunjin climbed in beside him.
they adjusted their bodies so that both were comfortable, finding that they fit easily together, almost like two halves of a whole.
bye i broke myself with this chapter. </3
