8pm - 2 Hours Saved

I ran down the hallway to the waiting room once Garcia and I reached the hospital. I've never been this scared in my life. Nobody would tell me anything on the phone. I ran to the nurses station.

"Hi, I'm looking for Jennifer Jareau, she was the FBI agent brought in"

"I'm sorry ma'am I can't-"

"Look here lady, you bet-"

"Emily" I heard someone say behind me. I turned and saw Derek standing there. I walked over to him.

"Is she okay Derek?"

"I don't know babygirl.. Reid said they took her back as soon as they arrived and that was 2 hours ago. We are still waiting" I covered my face as I started crying. I couldn't lose her, not now, not ever. I need her here, we have so much more to live for, so many things we need to experience together. He pulled me into his arms, holding me as I cried.

...

I was sitting between Reid and Garcia in the waiting room, it's been 5 hours and still nothing. I played with the necklace around my neck, her necklace. Nobody would tell me what they saw at the scene or what happened. Garcia had deleted the stream before I could see it. I was honestly grateful for that. I didn't need that to get out into the world.

"Emily!" I heard. My head snapped up and I saw Jennifer's parents coming down the hall towards us. I got up, meeting them halfway. "Come here dear," Susan said, holding her arms out. I stepped into them, laying my head on her shoulder. Her dad came over, laying his hand on my shoulder. I stepped back looking at them.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Penelope called us when everything first happened, we were on the flight when we got the call about her coming to the hospital, we got off the plane at the next stop and drove the rest of the way"

"Any word yet?" Jake asked.

"No, nothing yet."

"She's going to be okay" we walked over to the team and they introduced themselves before I took my place between Reid and Garcia again. I leaned my head on Reid's shoulder. I listened as he mumbled the words to Kurt Vonnegut's novel Slaughterhouse 5.

Everyone was spread out across the room, Reid's head had leaned over and laid on mine after he mumbled 3 books under his breath, putting himself to sleep. Hotch and Dave were across from us with their heads leaned back against the wall. Susan and Jake had the loveseat sofa and were leaning against one another. Derek and Garcia were in the same position as Reid and I.

"Family of Jennifer Jareau?" We all jumped and woke up as the doctor came into the waiting room. Everyone stretched and got up, walking over to the doctor.

"Yes, that's us," Hotch said, shaking his hand. Garcia grabbed my hand as we waited for him to speak.

"Just want to start off by saying she is very lucky to be alive right now. As soon as we got her here, we gave her Narcan and hooked her up to a dialysis machine, to filter her blood from the drugs. She had dilaudid and fentanyl in her system, very powerful drugs even alone. With those two strong drugs in her system, Jennifer had a lot of complications. She had two strokes and a minor heart attack before you even got to her. Her oxygen levels were dangerously low. After we got her blood cleaned, we took her to the OR. She has 4 broken ribs, a broken nose, and several cuts along her body and some markings almost as if they were mapping out for surgery?"
