Alex POV
We climb into Luke's car and drive to the end of the street. "How do you work this thing?" Luke asks starring at the red phone he has in his hands. "I don't know, your guess is as good as mine." The phone vibrates and a glowing orb thing shows up at the bottom of the screen. "Hello?" Luke says. "Hello." The woman responds. "Take me to 268 South Maple drive." A GPS pops up on the screen. It leads us to my house. I'm playing with the phone in my hand, I'm looking through all of my contacts trying to figure out what kind of person I am. We pull up to my house a short amount of time later. "Well, we're here," Luke says while putting the car in park. "Dude how did you know how to drive this?"
"I... I don't know, I just know-how, and I can remember my phone password now. I keep getting little bits of information that aren't mine."
"Wow, I guess the afterlife did think of everything." I see him roll his eyes. "I'll see you, tomorrow dude," I say getting out of his car and walking up to the garage, I punch some numbers into the keypad and see the door start to open. "This is weird." I walk through the door and into the kitchen. "MOM! ALEX'S HOME!" A girl with long blond hair comes up and gives me a hug. "I was able to get a last-minute ticket to the show tonight! I'm so proud of you baby brother!" I relax and hug her like I've known her my whole life. A woman who must be my Mom walks around the corner. "Oh, Alex your Father and I saw videos online. He got called into work a little bit ago, but he wanted me to tell you how proud we both are of you."
"Thanks, Mom," I say while giving her a hug. When we pull apart a little girl with brown hair runs up to my legs. "Hey, what are you still doing up little one?"
"Well, She wanted her famous big brother to put her to bed." My Mom said as I lifted her onto my hip. "Your famous big brother? Where's he?" I ask sarcastically while looking around. She starts laughing at me. I let out a small gasp "Is that me?!" she starts laughing even harder. "Alright little one, let's get you to bed." I carry her back to her bedroom and lay her down on her bed and get her tucked in. "Goodnight Addi."
"Goodnight Alex." I quietly close the door and walk back to the living room. I sit down on the couch as Arianna walks into the living room, or at least what I thought was a living room. "Why are you sitting up here? You know we only sit in here when Mom and Dad have company over. Come on we're watching a movie downstairs." I get up and follow my older sister downstairs. I jump over the back of the couch and sit next to Arianna so I can steal her popcorn. "Awww, do you want your big sister to protect you through the scary movie?"
"No!" I say in protest while stealing more of her popcorn. "Arianna, Alex."
"Sorry, Mom." We both say "It's okay if he has to kids, they told me. Love can overcome anything, they told me." She rolls her eyes at us. "We're the best thing that happened and you know it." Arianna retaliates. "I know, I wouldn't change you guys for the world." She says as she kisses our heads as she walks to take her seat. We watch the movie and then our mom sends us to bed. I lay in my bed trying to process the day. Kylee being my stepmom makes the age gap between Addi and I make a little more sense, it also explains why Addi doesn't look much like Arianna and me. After the movie and several buckets of popcorn, Arianna and I both go to bed. I lay there for a little bit tossing and turning, trying to process what's going on. I get out of bed and walk into the living room, my room is just around the corner from the living room so it's not far. "Hey, Mom?"
"Yeah, what's up Alex? Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, I was just wondering if I could go out tomorrow with Luke, and Reggie, oh and maybe Julie."
"Yeah, that's no problem, Have fun."
"Okay, thanks mom," I say before turning back to my room. I pause for a second. "Hey, Mom."
"Yes, Alex?"
"Do you and Dad love me?"
"Of course we do, what would make you think otherwise." She walks over to me. I hang my head. "I don't know I... I guess I just wonder sometimes." She grabs my shoulders. "Alex, look at me." I look up at her. "Absolutely nothing you could tell us would make us love you any less." I nod my head and look down again. "Alex, I promise." I can feel a tear come down my face. My mom must have noticed because she leads me to the couch. I sat down next to her and leaned my head onto her shoulder, she starts to play with my hair to calm me down when I start to cry. She pulls me in closer and starts to rub my back. I slowly calm down as she starts to hum I feel myself get tired. "Alex, you need to go to bed." I nod my head and walk back to my room and lay down. I quickly fall asleep knowing that this time my parents will love me through anything.
