Suzy lifted her head, to stare in wonder at the grey car that swerved into the alley. The driver was none other than Freddy.

He looked furious, glaring daggers at the gorillas, before jerking his head at Suzy to get in the car. She scrambled for the door.

As Suzy put her seatbelt on, Freddy stepped on the gas and swung the car around, almost hitting the gorillas and giving them a scare, before driving out of the alley and onto the main road.

"Distract me," He huffed. "I want to go back there and rip their heads off."

"Oh, don't do that," Suzy pleaded.

"You would want to, too, if you heard what they were thinking." Freddy replied.

Suzy raised an eyebrow. "And you did?"

Freddy chose not to answer, instead parking the car in front of the restaurant Suzy was going to go to with Rebecca and Peppa.

"How-" She started, but Freddy jumped out of the car. Suzy sighed and also got out.

Rebecca and Peppa walked out the door, glaring at Suzy, before noticing Freddy.

"Where were you? I'm sorry, we had to eat, you were taking so long." Peppa huffed.

Freddy waved his paw. "I we met up. Now, you guys can leave, I'll take Suzy to dinner."

Rebecca and Peppa hurried off, pulling their jackets tight around them in the cool night air.

Freddy pulled Suzy into the shop.

"Table for two?" A pretty deer waitress asked them, fluttering her eyelashes at Freddy. Suzy took a step closer to Freddy, glaring at her.

"Uh, yes," Freddy said, and they were lead to a small table in the corner.

Freddy pulled out a chair for Suzy. She blushed; he was so old fashioned.

Once Freddy took a seat, he handed Suzy the menu.

"I'll have a meatball pasta," She said, not taking her eyes off Freddy.

"Lamb or pork?"

"Lamb. The pork meatballs never taste good," she explained.

Freddy nodded.

"Aren't you getting anything?" Suzy asked him.

"Oh, no, I'm not hungry... yet." He said. Suzy was uncomfortably reminded of her theory about him.

After they ordered, she leaned closer to Freddy. "So, what was the whole 'if you heard what they were thinking thing about?" She questioned him.

Freddy shook his head. "If I told you, you wouldn't believe me."

"You can read minds." Suzy stated, testing the waters. Freddy nodded. "Prove it."

Freddy pointed to different animals. "He wants sex. She wants money. They want love."

"What about me?" Suzy breathed.

He shook his head in frustration. "I can't figure you out. Your head is silent."

"Is there something wrong with me?"

Freddy chuckled. "I can read minds and you think there's something wrong with you?"

The food arrived, and they spent the next ten minutes in silence as Suzy ate.

-

Suzy settled into the seat as Freddy drove out of the car park.

"Since when can you drive?" she asked him.

"I... have a lot of free time." Was Freddy's answer.

Suzy shivered. It was cold in here. She reached out to turn the heater on just as Freddy did. Their hands bumped and Suzy flinched at how cold he was.

"You're so... cold."

Freddy looked uncomfortable.

"I know what you are." Suzy whispered.

"Say it. SAY IT." Freddy glanced at her.

"You're cold. You're strong. You... have a desire to hunt."

"SAY IT!"

"You're.... a vampire."

Freddy nodded, scanning her face anxiously. "This... doesn't change anything, right?"

Suzy shook her head. Just as long as he didn't eat her.
