I had the dream again. I haven't had it for a weeks now, but last night, the night before the first day of 8th grade, I had the dream. My therapist had told my parents, Cory and Topanga, that if I had it again to tell her immediately. I'm tired of going to all these places that have yet to help me.

Now as I am getting ready for the first day of 8th grade my best friend, Maya Hart, knocks on my window before climbing through. "Hey, hey, hey, Miss Riles. Are you ready for the 8th grade?" Maya plopped down on my bay window.

I went over to Maya and gave her a big hug. "Maya! You're back!"

Maya went to her father's house for two months and we haven't seen each other practically all summer. I was happy she got reunited with her dad, but ever since the last day of school I haven't seen any of my former friends during summer.

Maya squeezed me tight and let go. "I missed you so much while I was gone."

"I missed you so much more! And look at your hair!" I took some of her hair and examined it. She put pink highlights in it.
"You're a true rebel now, Hart."

Maya slightly chuckled. "Thank you, my stepsister, Mallory, did it. She may only be 11 but she has some killer style and knows her stuff."

I was shocked. I did not know Maya had a stepsister. "Stepsister? What do you mean stepsister?"

"Oh yeah, when my dad left my mom and I he got remarried and had another child. There is so much to tell you Riles, but look at the time. The subway will be leaving soon and we gotta make it to class. " Maya got up from the bay window and started walking to my bedroom door to leave.

Since when did Maya ever want to go to school? I have known her for years and school has always been something she hated with a passion. Maybe Maya staying at her dad's place for a while was a good idea.

I caught up with Maya in my living room. She was having a conversation with my parents.

"Hey guys, what are you talking about?" I asked them, but as I did they fell silent.

Maya smiled at me, the first smile I've seen on her face in awhile. "Oh nothing. We have to get going if we want to make it to school on time. Let's go, Riles!"

Maya ran out of the front door and to the subway. I turned and looked at my parents. "Are you sure that is Maya? Since when does she ever want to go to school? "

"Thats what I said!" I hug both my parents and walk to the door. "Love you mom and see you at school Dad!" I said the them as I went to go find my best friend at the subway.
