I was on my way to the subway to go to the bakery when I saw Rebel sitting by himself on one of the benches. It was unusual to see him without Maya. Yes, it made me very sad that Maya broke up with me, but at least she was happy now.
I slowly walked up to him. “What are you doing here by yourself, Rebel?” I asked as I approached him.
Rebel looked up at me and a surprised expression was splattered on his face for half a second, then he scoffed “My name is Brandon. ”
Rebel, I mean, Brandon was always correcting people when they didn't call him by his real name.
“And rebel is your reputation? ” I asked.
Brandon nodded his head and said “There is a difference. ”
“So, are you going to answer my question?” I blurtted out.
He sighed before saying “I am here waiting for Maya.”
“And that's a bad thing?”
He shook his head. “No, I am always happy to see Maya. It is just the news that I am going to have to break to her.”
I curiously looked at him. Was Brandon going to break up with Maya? He better not hurt her, she may not been mine anymore, but I still have feelings for her. I mean, I always will. Maya is my rebel, my night. “What news?” I asked.
He hesitated before telling me “I'm moving to Jersey.”
“And you don't know how you're going to tell her?”
Brandon nodeded his head, as he did Maya approached us.
“Uh, hey.” Maya awkwardly said to us.
“Hello, Maya.” I said to her before turning back to Brandon and wished him luck, after that I walked away.
I continued my journey to the bakery. This whole situation with Maya and Brandon might be a good thing. When he leaves she will be lonely and come back to me. Unless, they try to work out a long distance relationship, which rarely work out. Sure, it's terrible for me to be hoping they'd break up, but can you really blame me? First Lucas comes around and takes my true first love, Riley, away from me. Then finally when I get over the whole Lucas/Riley dating situation, I get a chance with Maya, only to be dumped shortly after. It might just be me who thinks this, but love is not in my favor.
When I walked into the bakery I was greeted by Riley. She was sitting alone, so I decided to walk over to her.
“What are you doing here?" She asked as I approached her.
"I just came by to pick up some food. What are you doing here by yourself?" I asked, and as I did Lucas showed up with two muffins.
"Actually, Farkle. I am here with Lucas, were on a date."
I let my smile slighten. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt."
"You're fine." Riley told me.
"Well...I must get going. I'll see you guys tomorrow. "
"Bye, Farkle." They both said to me as I walked off.
After standing in the line at the bakery waiting for my food, I watched Riley and Lucas. Yes, that is stalkerish, but I can not believe how I am just sitting around letting my friends break my heart. Yeah, I said I was over Lucas and Riley dating, but c'mon. You never stop having feelings for your first love. Torture it was, watching my so called "love life" fall apart like this. I can not have this anymore, I need to start standing up for myself and tell everyone my true feelings.
Just as my order was ready and I was heading out the door, Lucas' phone went off and he was quickly out the door. I stayed at the bakery out of sight from Riley, until I saw Lucas leave. What was he doing? Was he leaving Riley by herself?
A few minutes later I saw Riley get up and leave. She looked really disappointed and I want her to be happy. Looks as if Friar cannot provide her happiness, which made me become very angry.
I grabbed my phone and went through my contacts trying to find Lucas' number. Yes, he is my friend, but he hurt the one I care for. This calls for revenge.
Finally after finding Lucas' contact I texted him "Friar, I heard what you did to your girl. That's not right and we are going to fight for her. The fight will be after first period. Whoever wins, gets Riley."
A few minutes later while I was on my way to Riley's house, my phone went off. The text from Lucas said "Farkle, is this a joke?"
I quickly texted him “No it's not. The only joke there will be is when I beat you up tomorrow in front of everyone." Before entering the bay window.
“Riley." I smirked as I flipped my hair.
"Farkle!" Riley smiled widely at me.
"I didn't think you would be home so early from your date." I said as I took a seat on the bay window.
"Oh, well you see. Lucas had to leave to go see some of his Texas friends who had come to visit."
"So he ditched you?" I looked at her. I tried looking protective, to show her that I really care, but I couldn't tell if it was working.
"Um, well.." Riley sighed. "Something like that."
"Wow, what a jerk." I shook my head. "I wouldn't ever ditch you on a date."
Riley smiled. "Thanks, Farkle. I am glad you are here, you always seem to cheer me up."
"I'll always be here for you Riley." I said, taking Riley's hand and holding it.
I was hoping this whole protective act was working, but I could tell by Riley's facial expressions it was not. She pulled her hand away from my hold and said "Well, I think you should go so I can get ready for tomorrow."
I nodded and went out the bay window. Before Riley could close the window I turned back around and flashed a smile. "Bye, Ry. I will see you tomorrow. "
"Yeah, see you tomorrow. "
